about 2 days ago my father noticed something poking out of our chams rectum and noticed that he has been rubbing on a log he has in his cage just like they do after they gone pooping and looked like somthing was bothering him in that area, so we took a look and there was some kind of thing just poking out it looked like a peace of dry turd or a really big burgur it just looked nasty and dry, it was about half an inch sticking out, my dad tried wiping it with paper just in case it was just a dry turd but as he wiped he felt it was very hard and tried pulling on it, as he slowly pulled eventually it came out, it wasnt very thick just a little long. i would say it looked verry close a burgur about an inch long and a little skinner then a pensil, it was dark brown, a little black and a little tan on the end that was inside of the cham. i wish i had pictures to post that would make it so much easyer to explain how it looked but dad threw it away. has this happend to anybody ? or anybody know what it could be ?

Could have been constapated and got one stuck how old is he?what species? What are you feeding him? How are you gutloading? What are his temps? How do you give him water? Is is cage glass or screen? Post pics of your setup and cham please thanks

im guessing it's just their way of eliminating sperm from their bodies. nah doesnt mean he's sick in any way. i've never run into this problem and some others never have either, but it does happen and there's nothing wrong with helping him get it out as long as you do it gently :)

drippers are a good choice as well as hand mistings with a spray bottle. that would also bring up the issue of drainage and ventilation for the cage, seeing as you have a glass enclosure. if you'd like some advice from myself or others on this and other stuff it would be wise to fill out the help form i posted above

Hello,

Glad you little man is okay. In the future you should not pull on anything coming out of your cham. It could have been a prolapse, which would have been Dad possibly pulling out internal pieces.

It would be nice if you filled out the form on how to ask for help because there may be other things that are not quite right with his set up.

Not sure where you purchased him but a lot of times buyers are given bad information on keeping their Chams if not bought from a breeder.

Thanks and Good luck :)

i agree that if you're not sure what it is,than you shouldn't pull it out. but do you personally see anything wrong with helping your cham with a sperm plug by gently pulling it out?? from my understanding, there is nothing wrong with that (as long as you're sure what it is).

I do not have any experience with males. I took this from another post

As for the sperm plug, mine get them all the time. If they don't get them off themselves then I pull on them with tweezers. They usually slide right out without any effort. If you feel competent then you can just pull them, if not, leave them be and they'll come out on their own.

ya so just feel out this
