Ok so here is what's been happening i've had my pygmies for two days and i've been having trouble with the temps since the temps have been reaching 81-83F in the tank i just want to know what can i do to keep the temps down that isnt using my ac unit since i cant have it on all day? right now i have been using ice packs on top to cool it down plus i have a ceiling fan running all day. Any suggestions? :)

I have actually put ice cubes inside the tank some wedged on sticks some on the ground. My pygs will hang out near them when temps get too high. This is only the beginning of the summer...are you sure you will be able to keep temps low all summer long when it's probably just going to get hotter?

Well im hoping its just for the beginning of summer since usually later on i can get away with turning on the ac and thanks for the help ferret you are always very helpful :)

I just wanted other ways to cool them off because my mother gets angry when I turn on the ac do you have any other suggestions even though the ice cube one is good I will try it tomorrow :D

I too have used ice cubes. I usually put them in the substrate and cover them a little. The pygmies would hang out above them.

Im using screw in LEDs from light your reptiles It drops my tanks temps by about 2 to 5 degrees. Also I bought alittle ac window unit for my room so i dont have to cool the hole house. I keep dartfrogs also and they like it cool I try to keep the whole frog room about 72 and the tanks sit round 74 to 77
