yes. Veileds are angry creatures :)
well... they are not mean, but they do see everything bigger than them as a threat.
Some veileds are display only reptile.
Some tolerates handling (depending on your cham's personality)

I would definitely advice you to do as minmal handling as you can.
Their biting become less of a threat if you wear thick gloves..

here is a link with numerous links to sites, articles, vet listings (be sure you have a good one lined up before you get a cham), etc.

if you are looking for a handleable lizard you may want to rethink getting a chameleon. be sure to ask lots of questions here:)

Thanks guys....I know about the whole "threat thing". I won't handle a lot anyways, just when I'm cleaning the cage, etc. Thanks you all so much for your help.

Veiled Behavior.............

The temperment of chameleons is very unpredictable. You can't count on getting one with a friendly personality. Veileds seem to have more of a reputation for grumpy personalities than other varieties. In general, chameleons should not be viewed as pets to be handled frequently. They do best if given the choice of whether to interact with the keeper or not. Some may come to the cage door eagerly for food or to climb onto your hand. Some may like sitting on your arm or shoulder. Others do not want to be handled at all and want to be left alone. They do not want your hand to come into their cage for any reason. They may always recoil at your touch. I believe in giving each cham respect for it's personal boundaries. They have a sense of personal dignity just like we do. They do not like to be forced into doing something any more than we do. There are other reptiles that are very gregarious and friendly with people. Bearded dragons and leopard geckos come to mind. There may be others.
