I am officially not a lurker with my previous post about roach keeping just a while ago!
I got my panther from this site's very own lizardkid, and it has definitely been a different sort of satisfaction from keeping ball pythons. D'Rango is a Tamatave male about 11 months now and his colors just keep surprising me.
Enclosure:
Custom built 4ft long, 3 1/2 tall, 2ft wide, Plenty of climbing limbs, 3 live plants, and a mistking that goes off 5 times (2hrs apart) for 1 minute each. His sleep cycle is 8am-8pm, covered for attepmted complete darkness at night.
My questions are:
1. For the past month he has been wandering his cage a lot more then usual, like he's on a mission to escape and when he is in his outdoor cage he seems to do it even more. I feel both cages are enough space for him and am assuming is part of 'becoming a man' behavior?
2. The plants in his cage are not doing great, but not horrible either. The ficus has lost all its lower portion of foliage, and its wanting to grow taller then the cage. One pothos is doing ok (occasional dead leaves ~ weekly) but the other that is situated at the floor of the cage is slowly dying. Any tips?
3. I transferred over my 2ft (i think) uvb light from his baby cage over to his newer bigger enclosure. Is this sufficient for his needs? You can see in the pic where is located.
Thank you ahead of time for any tips or comments
