I am curious if you guys order crickets by the bulk. If so how many and how long did it last for? Also what type of chameleons and how old are they.

I have around 40 adult panthers and they go through about 2,500 crickets and 300 silkies a week. About once a week I mix in some other feeders, grasshoppers, dubias, bannana roaches, etc. Ohh they range from 70g to 180g and from 9 months to 2.5 years old.

Nice Chris!!

Where did you get the banana roaches from? I've been looking for some for a while.

I had a friend ship me up some from FL. He could only spare like 15 at the time (which wasn't too long ago), so I can't really spare any right now. But hopefully in a few months. I will definitely keep you posted on that. I have only fed off a few and the chams absolutely love them, so keeping my fingers crossed that they reproduce quickly.

I built an insulated room for all of them. I house all my adult males in 2x2x4s and females in 2x2x3s. Yea I started just like you...I had four for a year or so so then boom...lol I got addicted, don't let this happen to you...lol No it relieves so much stress...maybe I didn't need 40 but I guess I just have a lot of stress :D

Can you post some pictures of this room with chams please?

Is there a flat rate for shipping crickets at ghann? I can't see how much shipping is, I think I have to check out in order to see it. Or can you compare prices with lllreptile. Thanks

I have 8, 3 panther and 5 veiled adults. I order 2000 3/4" from LLL about every 3-4 weeks, depending on other food items on hand like silkies and superworms.

I order 500 1/2" to 5/8" crickets every 2-3 weeks.
500 supers every couple of months.
I also feed dubias one a week.
I have 5 Veileds
Two adult males, one of them only eats supers.
One sub adult male
One adult female
One baby female

The prices are about the same if you do overnight shipping. They only ship by UPS ground if you live in a state near them. Which I don't.
Having to do overnight shipping sucks, but the quality of the crickets is always outstanding and I've never had potato bugs (or whatever those little hairy things are called) in shipments from them.
They might be cheaper than LLL if you need crickets of different sizes since you only pay for shipping once, but I'm not sure.

What did you do to keep them all from seeing each other? I need to find something to put between my cages so my veileds don't see each other.

I went to a sign place (you know those plastic looking sings) and got pvc board to put between most of my enclosures. You can also use cardboard but if it gets wet then its shot. At the sign places they have different types of pvc board, some are fairly cheap, go with those.

the cheaper kind of pvc board is much like plastic cardboard. easy to use. i actually put it on the inside of my screen cages to limit area of possible nail damage.
just the 2 sides that butt up against the other cages. it cost me less than $35 for 4' x 8' sheet (i use green)

Sean

PS i have 4 chams order 1000 crickets biweekly (also feed many to bearded dragon: she could eat 1000 if i let her:eek::D:eek:)
