This pretty fella found his way into my conservatory yesterday afternoon. I managed to catch him in a jar and release him back into the garden for his very own phot shoot! I've seen plenty of green and blue dragonflies, but I've never seen a red one like this! The photo doesn't do him justice - his body was a vivid red with an irridescent sheen to it. What a beauty!
actually thats a damselfly not a dragonfly, they are slightly smaller (at least in North America, in other parts of the world they are HUGE) and they keep their wings shut, unlike dragonflies who keep them open, Cleathechameleon, the "babies" you see are probably damselflies, baby dragonflies are called nymphs and live underwater, so when they DO fly they are full grown.
