Regulating temp in a large mesh cage

Hello,

I'm happy to update that Marcel now has a lovely new 24x24x48 cage with a huge, lovely natural pothos "tree" (it's fashinones into a plant that goes all the way to the top of the cage) and horizontal perches at different levels, etc... and I'm very excited for him to be in his new home, but am noticing the temperature seems lower. I'm having a harder time achieving optimum basking temp. Humidity is better thanks to the natural plant--but just not sure what I should now be using bulbs-wise for temp and UV on so much larger of a space. His basking perch is the same distance as before and the thermostat'S right there, but isn't getting as hot as it needs to be at that spot (90-95 range, yes? Or, no?) and it makes me worried about how cool it's getting down on the lower levels. Any advice is greatly appreciated, as always!

Higher 80s is where I keep my male veiled. If you are want to raise the temp just get a higher wattage bulb.

Thanks! I have a ceramic bulb that increases the heat, but also kills the humidity in the process. Can you recommend a good wattage for a 48" cage?

Try using a halogen bulb, they have reflectors and the way they are shaped they direct the same amount of energy but it's more focused, I recently switched because of the same issue and found that to solve that problem without using a higher wattage bulb , my veiled seems to really enjoy the hotter temps. I had to use a peice of old screen to actually cool down the temp somewhat. I think that would work awesome for your situation and they last a lot longer

I have a similar enclosure I started with a 100w but I have moved it to a 75w I also think alot depends on the tep in your house my house is about 73 to 72 most of time and my Veileds basking spot stays about 83 to 87 as for rest of enclosure it's about 73 to 75 I also have my light on an rod so i am able to move it up and down if I see a temp is not right
