Removable Background For Vivarium

Hey Guys,

I am starting the project on removable background for my cham's vivarium tomorrow. Right now she is in a 36" tall vivarium with a pothos and a few dowels going across with a vine and a hammock near her basking spot that she loves to sleep on at night. I want to give her a spectatcular place to live, so I have come up with a whole live planted plan for her cage. I have decided to start with the background first. I have spent the whole day researching great stuff removable backgrounds and have came up with a few ideas. The one thing I cannot seem to find out is if great stuff will stick to plexiglass. I saw that everyone recommended using eggcrate, but the only place that sells it is almost 40 miles from me. I found a piece of plexiglass laying in my garage and trimmed it to size today. I figured if I drilled holes throughout the plexiglass and scored it up good with some 50 grit sandpaper than the great stuff will stick. Has anyone had any experience with this? Just wanted to get some other peoples insight on this.

Thanks Guys,
John

Yes, it will stick especially if you drill it. For how long, who knows but I don't see a problem with the bond being essentially permanent. If you've ever got that stuff on your hands you'd know it will stick to anything. Probably even teflon. :D

Somewhere on this site, there are links to a lady who makes videos on youtube. All kinds of insane backgrounds. She uses the glass tanks, like from exo terra and zoomed. She uses some like black silicone and great stuff. I think you said removeable though. I would cut that white two fold school project board to fit and adhere from there or maybe thin paneling board. They sell some in bath and shower section at hardware store. I think m fisher was one who told me about it, maybe ask him for specifics. Your idea though, is totally doable. Seen it.
