So yesterday we got a 1.5y old Leopard gecko (he's a rescue) poor guy was so scraed on the ride home. After getting him home and cleaning/disinfecting his cage all he wanted to do was be on my girlfriend. He straight up goes to the side of the tank she is on. If I hold him he cruz's around but if she holds him he cuddles up to her like he's in love. And to think she didn't want a Leo ;) heres a pic of him chilling with her.

Smiling Today :)

He is very photogenic and is so much fun to hang out with :) Hasn't eaten yet since we got him home but is loving his calcium powder and heating pad!

Sometimes geckos won't eat for up to a month once moving to a new place. Hopefully it doesn't take that long but be prepared haha

Ya we have had him 24 hours and I can say he is suoer friendly and it is easy to see how they can be addicting :)

I hope he don't wait that long. Can he eat pretty much anything my cham can? I have dubias, crickets, reptiworm, supers and silks. From what I read they can but this is my first Leo.

Hope you know this is a long living lizard!! They can easily live 15 or 20 years!
Wish the chameleon's lived hat long.

My leos eat superworms, silks, small hornworms, crickets and reptiworms. Mine are 3 years old and only eat a few times a week. Leos love human interaction, mine greet me at the edge of the tank when I come into the room! That is a gorgeous gecko and looks healthy. Good catch!

Thanks. So can someone help me with how I should be supplementing for him? I have seen a few different recommendations.

I use Repashy Calcium Plus. It is an all in one. I also dust the feeders instead of using a dish of powder, just because mine kept dumping it out instead of licking it...

Wow did not know they live that long!! My daughter just got one about 4-5 months ago. She is 22 and finishing college in Dec and will be moving out next year which means I will inherit the Gecko just like I do every other pet she HAS to have!!! We took in a Cockatiel about 10 years ago that we found at a golf course down here in Florida. She wanted a bird so bad! Well that bird is 16 yrs old now(she has a band on her foot with dob) and going strong! The vet told me he has seen them as old as 35 yrs! I was thinking when we got her it would be like a parakeet and maybe 5-6 yrs and then they would fly off to heaven! NOT! I know parakeets have a longer livespan but ours never seemed to last more than that. Maybe 10 yrs tops we had one. Oh well, with the way it is going all these animals are gonna outlive me!!

Yesterday was one week but still not eating yet :( he had a shed last night and did eat that. He still poops about once every one or two days and really doesn't look like he has lost any weight but I'm going to put him on the scale and track from today on. Beside that we have been building a custom enclosure with 3 hides, bridges and tunnels.

I have been leaving a coupled dubias, and a few supers in a feeder bowl every night hoping he would pick them off. Every morning I would get up and take them out and let them gut load all day to try and feed them the next night. I don't mix them back with the colony's after any feeders leaves as I don't want to contaminate the colony but this morning all feeders were gone :D I'm so happy he has started eating. 2 dubias & 3 supers last night and my kids are coming for the weekend (the Leo is a birthday gift for my daughter and her first pet) and I can't wait yo see how excited she will be. Its a great day today now if I can get a few male silk moths to pop out today (fingers crossed)

Glad to see he is doing well! Adult leos don't eat daily, mine will go days then go crazy for food and eat a huge meal. Looks like you have everything on the right track- your daughter is going to love him! Definite Cool Dad points! :)
