Rescue Male Panther Covered in Sores

As far as bulbs I have a uvb strip light mounted inside the cage toward the top back and a 100 watt basking spot light and 75 watt nighttime basking spotlight in the double dome with the probe for the digital thermometer positioned right underneath.

Here's a pic of how he fell asleep last night, was so cute!

I think he was sleeping a lot during the day for the first couple days just from the stress of moving and being weak from not having proper heating lighting or nutrition for pretty much his whole life cuz I tell ya what, today he's like a whole new chameleon. Alert, active, eating everything you put infront of him and all the sores and bumps look 100% better. I posted pics from this morning in a new thread named "Picasso the rescued male panther- DAY 3" where you can see the drastic difference from the first pics I posted. I think he's gonna be okay!!!

The nigh light may be bothering his sleep. He does not need or want a nightlight. Maybe when you remove it he will be able to sleep.

I'm planning on picking up a ceramic heat emitter next time Im near a pet shop but the red bulb is the best I can do at the moment. We have an older kinda drafty house and can get quite chilly at night so I feel a little more comfortable having at least some kind of heat on him at night. Once he attached himself to the front of the cage like that last night he slept like that all night until this morning when I came downstairs to check on him so hopefully it won't bother him too much until I get a ceramic one.

Yeah, night lights only mess up their sleep pattern, def not needed. Chams like a drop in temperature at night. They can handle drops into the 50's and maybe even lower. As long as your house is insulated, I think he will be fine.

I'm glad he went to a caring new owner. I'm sure there is some kind of steroid ointment that a vet could prescribe for those sores. (posting this before reading past the first page lol)

The bumps to me look like a rash or allergic reaction ...reminds me of my eczema. if this is the case the antibiotic cream will make them worse, they will blister and ooze. A hydrocodone cream is what is needed. ( but I am not sure if you can use this on Chams. ) maybe it was the plant that was causing the problem the sap from some plants can be very toxic (so i have read)
Let us know what the vet says, I hope that it is something easy to fix so that the little guy can get better soon.

I have studied botany and have experienced getting exposed to giant hogweed sap and I got blisters and sores like that chameleon lol. I was given hydrocodone cream and some steroid pills to speed up the healing as I was still working insane hours that week. I was healed up in about 10 days. The sap is light sensitive and when exposed to UV rays a chemical reaction happens and creates those burns on top of the skin.

I was just what it looked like to me ...Did you get a chance to get the poor guy into a vet to see if they could help with those blisters? Hope that they can help you get the little guy back to good health.
