Resting position

  • Your Chameleon - 4 month old male veiled
  • Had him for a week and a half
  • Handling - just started handling him yesterday
  • Feeding - every morning he gets crickets and wax worms
  • Supplements - flukers calcium without d3
  • Watering - i mist 3 times a day. I see him drink pretty often
  • Fecal Description - Solid dark fecal matter with mostly solid white
  • History - just received him a week and a half ago

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - 18’ x18x36 reptibreeze screen
  • Lighting - i have a 5.0 tube uvb an a zoomed dimming heater so i can easily adjust temp
  • Temperature - i keep his basking spot between 85-90
  • I have shade spread out to make a differential below
  • Humidity - usually around 60 I believe
  • Plants - i have a hibiscus recently put in
  • Placement - cage is inside. Low traffic area. top of the cage comes to about eye level with me. I’m 5’8
  • Location - florida

Current Problem - he doesn’t do this all the time, but occasionally when hes in his basking spot he will rest his belly down on his perch. Today he actually put part of his side on the perch(pictures below). That is the first time he’s done that. Im not sure if this is just something he is doing to bask or maybe digest, but i thought i read that that was a bad sign
It looks like his butt may be trying to poop(for lack of better terms) so maybe he’s constipated
I’m new to this so not sure if this is just normal, because when he moves around, he does just fine and hes never lethargic.

You received some good advice above. I just wanted to mention that wax worms are not good feeders. They are very high in fat.
I have never used wax worms nor meal worms, which are hard to digest.
