Nebula had been doing fine. Eating and drinking well, not showing any signs of any problems. Yesterday evening, I noticed that she was sitting on the bottom of her cage and when I got closer, I noticed that her uterus was protruding. It was horrible looking. It looked like a huge red kidney. I felt so sorry for her. She was walking around dragging it behind her. All the vets around here were already closed, but I got her to my vet first thing this morning. He told me that it could be put back in, but that everytime she laid eggs, it would come out again. We decided that it would be best to put her down. My heart was broken for her. She was such a sweet girl. I do have 35 eggs from her incubating right now - which should start hatching hopefully within the next few weeks. It will be nice to have a female from her. Goodbye sweet girl

This is really sad. :(
But the time heals everything- as soon as the first little matey will hatch and look at you, your sorrow will be gone and you'll be enjoying her babies...

So sad. That' terrible about your pretty little pink girl. I am sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace.

I am really sorry you lost the little girl, that must have been awful for you to find her that that. So sorry.

Thank everyone for your condolences!! That's what I love about this forum - everyone is so great!!! I still have all my other chams to keep me occupied and the babies to look forward too, but I know she is cham heaven eating to her hearts content!!

I'm so sorry to hear about Nebula. It's so hard to say goodbye to one of our little friends. You are in my thoughts. Jann

I applaud you on your difficult decision, and your vet as well for being knowledgable and to-the-point. Hopefully she lives on with the next generation. Prolapse are pretty random in our experience, and while uncommon, can happen to any chameleon at any time, although far more common with females. Life goes on.
