Safe Paint?

Hey guys, these past few weeks I have been preparing to get a panther chameleon. I’m making DIY vines right now using a soaker hose and hobby wire. But I need to paint it. I bought the Rust-Oleum Gloss Protective Enamel spray paint. From what I have seen, this is safe for reptiles, but I wanted to check in with the experts first. What do you guys think? Is this safe for my chameleon?

My concern would be flaking and cracking, especially where you bend the vine. I would personally look for a way to color 100% silicone (add acrylic craft paint, food coloring ?) and use that.

Also if you are getting a panther they bite their branches. Which is why natural real branches are recommended over fake vines.

what kind of silicone?
For anything within the enclosure that you would use silicone, you want to use the 100% silicone one…not the ones that have mold inhibitors and stuff. https://www.lowes.com/pd/GE-Silicon...6e3kZX_v0KtpvnHQKid6lP6B5j1sR2F0aAixZEALw_wcB I have in the past made some little roots for a gecko tank using frayed twine, silicone and coco coir. It looked pretty good to me, but I didn’t fully cover the twine as I wanted a bit of a woody natural look. Surprisingly, I guess I took pics. Lol 1st is right after setting it in place and the 2nd is the best pic I have of it (background) after everything finished (and my Leo, Handsome).

oh my goodness Leo is absolutely stunning. 🥰 And your roots are awesome! They look so real!!!! I have some sphag moss that I bought to use for substrate before I knew I wasn't s'posed to use substrate, so I was thinking it might make a cool looking vine too. I did figure out the right kind of silicone, thanks so much! I think I have enough for a couple more vines after making these using Reptisoil.. here is a fat one and a long skinny one. These will go in the new big enclosure. I'm finding and cleaning some good sticks too. This one I found is so nice.. really hard wood.. I think it's crabapple.. it had a lot of spikey things I had to literally file off with a metal file. 😳
I love all your setups. you posted one in "hide n seek" yesterday with some crazy wonderful plants.. I really have to get some stuff like that. Jade just loves to hide in that thick plastic bunch of leaves..it's where she sleeps, and I'm trying to figure how how to make that with real plants.

Yup, it was GrannyK and it is a beautiful enclosure. If only mine looked as nice. I get them set up and they look fantastic, but over time, some plants fail and others go wild. Then of course my veiled girl just devours some of hers.
