See if he's ok

I rescued this veiled the end of June. I guessed him to be 5 months old then, so now would be 7 months old. He has MBD issues. I think we got that back on track. I have him on a normal routine of supplements now. He has reptisun 5.0 tube. I have a basking spot but my house is so hot already I don't have a high watt bulb as it would fry him. I have him in a 4'x4'x2' home made cage, all mesh but 1 side is wood. I have a dripper going all the time and I spray at least 3 times but mostly more than that. He used to drink when I sprayed but I haven't seen that since we moved cages. I have 3 cup feeders filled everyday but I don't think he is eating at all. I bought some silks and he won't touch them, same with the horn worms and also dubias. When I first got him he ate really good. I was giving him small super worms and he would eat 20 or more a day. Now he won't even eat those. I tried giving him bigger ones to see if he was having an issue with the small size and he still won't touch them.

Back to the cage, I have a hibiscus, umbrella tree, ficus and a little corn plant(don't know the name right off but I found it on this site as a good plant for chams) all these plants are real. I also have some real branches in there, and fake vines all over to give access to entire cage. I just want people to see him and tell me if you think he is ok or if you think he is dehydrated. I am afraid his eyes look sunken to me. In the past 2 months he has grown probably 4" or more. He stays green more now.

I just want to throw this in because I was fascinated by his behavior the other day, wish I got a pic of it. The other day I was trying to give him a silk worm and he hissed and lunged at me several times and turned the most brilliant green I had ever seen, he also had very black stripes and dots and the contrast was the most beautiful sight! I didn't like the situation but it was beautiful.

Anyway here are pics of him to see if he is ok.

Beautiful veiled. Looks like a healthy fella now. He is letting you know you are intruding upon his territory. Veilds are notorious for being feisty.

So you don't think his eyes are sunken in? Maybe I see it because he was so small even last month and now he's pretty big. Well I'm not sure how big he is supposed to be but he's as big as my hand now. I haven't measured him because he's a hissy little thing. I figured it was because he feels better now.

in some of the pics they do look sunken in. I am no expert but I know a member on here that is pretty good with Veilds. I will contact him and ask him to take a look.

Aside from some limb deformities he looks healthy to me. His limbs will never go back to normal but if he is maintaining a strong grip and full use of his limbs he should be ok although i dont know what your supplementation schedule looks like. What you may be experiencing is a feeding strike. At this age, i would be feeding him every other day. This normally prevents a "would be" picky eater from becoming picky in the first place. This is just my approach and it doesnt always work but it works more times than not. Veileds will suck in their eyes when they feel threatened and thats what it appears to be. They still look rounded and shapely, just sucked into the socket. Those colors dont look like hes to stressed really. Keep an eye on him and if he begins to loose weight, take him to a vet to get a fecal check done because his weight loss and reduced appetite could indicate a parasite.

Thanks, just worried I guess. He had a check up and fecal a little over a month ago and was clear.

im not familiar with veilds really or chams for the most part cause our state is stupid when it comes to laws but i do keep severel species of geckos. in that last pic it looks like some shedding going on. when my geckos shed they tend to not eat much. they also dont much like it when i move there cage. i think he looks pretty good when compaired to others i have seen. again im no expert and i may be way off with my info but i just thought i would throw it out.

Thanks everybody. He did have a big shed about 2 weeks ago. That little piece just won't come off and he acts like he might bite me if I get too close. Sometimes he's ok with me being near and other times I can't even open his door without him expressing his opinion of me. I do have a dripper going all day long and I also spray several times a day.
