Settled in

Nearly 2 months with us now and Rainbow, our male ambanja seems quite settled in. He shed right in the beginning and is - I think - awaiting his second shed. Just installed an Exo Terra Monsoon misting system the other day. He seems to like it. He is a bit of a pain in terms of eating as he doesn't really like cricket. And he wants alternating food every time he hunts: One grasshopper, then one Roach, then one silkworm...Well something has to keep you busy besides work, kids and life. Still haven't weight or measured him. But I suspect he is around 6-9 months now. Fits nicely on my daughter's hand.

Chams will definitly keep you busy. A lot of my chams lost interest in crickets as well which stinks cause its the easiest insect to gutload and keep.

3 months and 2 sheds later, he (Rainbow) keeps loosing his blues and the reds take over (not that we are too disappointed). When he is not with the camera, he displays a lot of yellow at his belly. He still doesn't like to be photographed and goes into defense mode right away. Just planted my new favorite plant in his enclosure: Passion flower. Grows like crazy and provides sturdy branches for him to climb on (can see the leaves on the shedding picture). When in season it has fantastic flowers as well.

Thanks. Yes he is a very healthy boy. Lot of good tips from the forum here were helping as well. We luckily have a good food supply here in Hong Kong. Nearly anything is readily available (except hornworms, which are banned from import). This and the weather (which is closer to Madagascar climate) makes it fairly easy to keep panthers.

It was a bit more difficult with our veileds as the humidity here is way too high. And way more difficult for our montanes because of the heat.

Thanks Jason. The red kicked in a bit as a surprise though. It is very extreme when fired up.

Thanks all. Appreciate. He has made quite a transformation since I rescued him from the shop. Thanks to a lot of advise from you guys, he has improved a lot in the past 3 months.
