My over friendly Cham has turned very grumpy he is nearly 9monhs old is it advised to breed him and where and how to I advertise that (new to this forum thing!)
So your trying to stud him out? What kind of cham are we talking about? First question most people will want to know is bloodline. Do you have any info on his bloodline? Pictures?
Hi lazy boy, yes I can find out info of his bloodline as its a family member I obtained him from and was told his dad was from a really good blood line, he is a blue bar ambilobe panther. I have just found out how to set my profile pic .. I'm learning slowly how to use this forum so please bare with me! Lol ... Also thanks for your comment Carol ..he was so over friendly I was having to hide as if he saw me he would head bang the viv till I got him out then suddenly he's turned thought it was as he was due a shed but he's past that just not changed his mood ... Noticed he was producing sperm so I was just hoping if I could find him a lady! for some loving it might cheer him up? ... I am a first time chameleon owner so I'm not sure what was best to do for him as I love him to bits!
Many times chams will be friendly and curious as babies, but once they reach sexual maturity and are adults they become more moody and grumpy. This isn't the case with all chams but it might be the case with your boy .
I would recommend you continue to work with him through this stage and keep building that trust between you to and hopefully he will come back around.
Also, check and make sure nothing changed recently as it could be something else that is affecting his mood.
Finally, breeding will not help with his mood so unless you really want to breed and take on all the responsibility of doing so I wouldn't recommend breeding him as it will not help with his current attitude problem.
I also agree, I have found breeding has no effect on my boys that have bred - they are either still crabby, or not - and for those who do not get girl friends - ummm...as we have seen on here - many a hand / vine has been used by the boys if he REALLY wants to breed - he will , even if its NOT with a lady and also like others said- if he is your first, babies are A LOT OF WORK and at times heartache. I do not breed the panthers, but some that are here were used as breeders - losing their girlfriends has not changed them at all - I do breed Jax - they never change
