Sharp Nails

I used to own cockatiels and know they have "emery boards" that are actually sheets that wrap around perches/dowels. I'm curious if these could work or if they would irritate a chameleon's feet. My cham's nails have gotten pretty long too and it reminded me of these. Any ideas?

I just can't see how it can happen as you just described. If he's dragging his feet, the nails are pointed away from the skin and there is no pressure on the sharp tip of the nail. I wonder if you aren't allergic to something on his feet. Or maybe he is grabbing your arm hard when you try to remove him from your arm and you are pulling him off your arm. Skin, (unless you have some kind of skin disease/condition) is just not so fragile that it is damaged with no pressure, even with something very sharp. I can understand puncture wounds happening when you are handling them correctly, but not a scratch.
But my closest reptile store only has crape myrtle branches, grapevine, and fake branches. Where else can I get them?
i live in Abilene. I'm curious where you live??

I'd still like to get other members' opinions about the emery board things that file down bird claws. I can't see any reason they'd be bad for chams.... Advice here please!!

Never been there lol! That goes to show how big Texas can be......:) Crape myrtle and mesquite trees are the main thing in Texas. I can totally relate
I used crape myrtles for my cage I built :) and some wee branches from a live oak (took the bark off) and then finished it with some plain bamboo sticks I purchased form a 99cent only store.
Lol trust me I know about the mesquite I was raised till the age of 12 in South Texas (its all there is down there). Pm me sometime we can talk about our chams!

You could cause a break in surface of the foot pad where bacteria enters. In birds it is called bumble foot and is often fatal. Never use those sandpaper covers for birds.
