Shipping Crickets in Cold Weather?

We just ordered 2000 crickets from Ghanns, but the weather is cold and they're asking me to sign a waiver to ship at my own risk. Have any of you ever had crickets shipped in cold weather? Did they survive? I'd hate to tell them to ship and have the crickets die, but man they're expensive at Petsmart. Thanks all.

Have them put in a heat pack..... I am sure they tape up the screen or use enclosed boxes.... but I wouldn't do it unless you get a heat pack.

I just ordered 2000 also. I did the 2 day shipping deal, and they didnt make me sign any waivers. However, we are in Cincinnati so maybe it isnt as cold here. The weather is 20 degrees F at night and 30 deg. F during the day. There was not a heat pack in the box, but the package was double boxed so the screens were covered. The delivery guys here are a pain, they choose never to ring the bell or knock, they just leave the package and take off. So when I got my crickets they were not moving and basically frozen. After a couple hours of being inside the house the crickets were alive and kicking with no issue.

I order from Ghanns , at the rate of about 26,000 crickets a week. I have not lost 1 cricket. They know how to ship and pack them,

I highly recommend during this cold season to take advantage of their overnight shipping..

I also order from Ghann's. Just be sure that when you receive crickets in cold weather that you do not unpack them immediately. Remove them from the outer box but keep them in their individual box for an hour or more inside the house. This will allow all of them to heat up and move around. If you dump them out when they are in a semi-frozen state they can suffocate in your cricket bin because they just pile up inside there.

Thank you so much for the responses. I'm going to go ahead and call them and ok the shipment. It's actually warmer here than in Ohio. Weird. I also was doing the 2 day deal. Overnight is pretty expensive.

You order 2600 crickets a week?? Holy crap!

All my crickets come from Ghann. It is UP to -24 here. Ghann ships to me all winter and gets the little buggers here alive. Of course all my stuff has to come in overnight, but is it alive. They always ask if I want them shipped when it is this cold, and they will not be responsible if the crickets die, but they do ship & the crickets do survive.

This state has some of the craziest weather!!!! It bounces all over the place we got 1" of snow this morning. However, it is shocking your weather is warmer. Any how Ghann"s is my favorite cricket supplier.

Thanks! Yes, Ghanns does rock. That's who I've used since we've had our chams. You got weird weather too?? Yeah, it'll snow one day and then be 90 degrees the next. You just never know.
