Should I buy (save) this guy??

I'm still working on getting my environment setup...but I should be done within the next week or so...

My local reptile store has had this Panther cham for 2 to 3 months now. The owner told me he's 7 months old(does that look true?). I go into the store to see him twice a week. He seems in good shape, even though his environment is bad IMHO. They have him in a screen cage...but its a small cage and he's with a female. They basically mist him directly a few times a day with a spray bottle and keep crickets in his cage for food. Theres not a lot of love given to him.

He has beautiful colors and doesnt seem sick (based on what I've learned on how to look for danger signs).

I'd love to buy him and give him a great home. Should I buy him, even with the lack of care...or should I only buy from a place that takes great care of what they sale?

If you are sure you can provide a better environment then I do not see why not.

He looks fairly healthy from the pic . Go for it, if you get the female too separate them don't keep them together like that.

Yes, they have left the tag on the branch...pretty sad IMHO. I dont dont think I've ever seen light on top of the cage...which is NOT good. I think they place them outside. But yea, not great care at all.

but with that said...they both seem to be in good health. But who knows how long that could last. I would imagine stress will certainly take its toll...in time.

They are asking $275 for the male. I could probably get him for $225...if I made the offer.

I say get them before they get in worse condition and we here on the forums will help you and guide you in steps on taking care of these magnificent creatures.

The choice is yours. I think you would do just fine. Everyone else on here may jump and attack saying no... wtf... blah blah blah but if you can dedicate time to the chameleon then there should be no problem.

Its an expensive hobby.

Unless I seen the chameleon in realtime then I could make a good estimation if he is healthy or not. From the pictures, he looks fine.

They look like ambilobes, and tbh, 225 is more fair. really 200 would be fairest and 170 for the female.

Research a little and make your decision he also looks fine to me but without a light idk how long that will last lets hope they put him outside to

Pshh.... I learned from a shit load of failures. I would not consider myself an expert; more of a person who refuses stop buying chameleons.

I started getting them as impulse purchases but after losing 2 and another 2 dying, I decided to join this forum and rethink my approach. I learned a plethora of information from this site. You will do just fine now that you are a member before even buying a cham.

True that and im 12 years old and i know a ton more than i did when i just started. Does anyone remember when i started with the 2 huge branches and fake plants on both sides now i look back and think what a fool i was before joining here

Btw where do you live? if you are any where near me or my friend ill take that female! shes looks big and healthy as of the picture.
