I currently keep a west usambara two-horned chameleon male. because of the tanazan trade stoping thing a female is priced at like $120-140 not counting shipping i find this steeper than my budget considering if they die shortly apon arival im out alot of money. instead to get my breeder experience i was thinking about getting some pgymies since my friends mom owns a petstore and i can get them shipped to the store free cuz she orders her animals in a bulk/wholesale price. i think i could make a nice set up i just wanted to know more about pgymies in general. she does not know what species they will be all she knows is she can get them both the same species. wow this is long anyways is it hard to breed them? and get eggs to hatch? do i need an incubator for them? and i know with them being so small is it common that they just are to weak to make it? iv read flchams care for pgymies basic. but id like to know alot more.
thanks, robert.

I love my pygmies! They are pretty hardy if you have them set up right. They should not ever be handled though. They need temps less than 80 so I just use a low level UVB light as their only bulb. My pair produced 11 babies (4 clutches) so far pretty easily. They can incubate in the viv with the adults (but the parents will try to eat them when they hatch) or you can incubate them separately in just a Tupperware in a cabinet with temps between 65-78. The babies need lots of food and water but are pretty low maintenance compared to a lot of species. I like them for being so small and cute and their babies are unbelievably tiny and adorable. Do you have other questions about them?

I think ferret already answered the bulk of the actual care issues, but I feel I should mention the following....

Although it is not very hard to breed pygmies and they are generally cheaper, I would be more concerned about other things...I know the whole breeding thing is really exciting, but honestly if you can't afford $100 for a mate to your current cham.....can you afford to be breeding anything? The possibility of health complications during breeding alone can easily set you over the $100 mark on vet bills.

I hope you realize that at BEST you will break even, and esp when first starting out, you will LOSE money *even if* you successfully breed...

That is a really good deal! You should do it! Plus pygmies are not as easy as they seem from what i hear...Stick to breeding the one you have. It will pay off
