Should I Still Make a Vet Visit

i have a 2-3 year old Panther and he started to take naps during the day and the past 2 days he quit eating and looks skinny with recessed eyes. well it turns out this all started because i removed his dripper water fall system for leaking and flooding his cage and carpet. so i put in a misting system which i guess he is not recognizing as a water source. after losing my mind for the past couple of days i decided to try and force him to drink with a spray bottle close to his mouth. i did not have to force anything he attacked the spray bottle and has been wanting water every 20 min for the past 2 hours. (is it possible to over water your chameleon?) and now he is standing up on 2 legs making bubbles and trying to use the bathroom

If he's still naping I would. Honestly I would look into a better drainage system. Bubbles I wouldn't worry too much about especially if he has been drinking tons this last day. You may want to try showering him?

His is what he is doing I guess he is trying to get rid of the mucus from being dehydrated

I definitely wouldn't give him anymore water at the moment o_O. That's a lot of bubbles... even for someone who has just drank his body weight practically. Do you hear anything weird when he breathes or opens his mouth? Is there a popping sound? Honestly I would be worried he aspirated some water and now has the start of a URI

No popping sounds I have him a warm shower and the only thing he has done is gave a few coughs and now he is just taking deep breaths

I would be watching him very very closely for the next few hours. If he continues coughing or breathing irregularly, I would really consider the vet.

It's always good to be safe than sorry. I hope things turn out ok, good luck

I am not sure if that's what he had though honestly I don't know what water intoxication looks like in humans let alone chameleons... Is he showing signs Maia? And what are the general symptoms if he's not just for future reference?

I'm not sure that's what he has either, I was only answering OPs question on if you can give too much water. In humans symptoms would depend upon the severity and can include changes in mental status, headache, muscle cramps, nausea and vomiting and even death. Water intoxication is rare. In his chams case since he was already dehydrated and he only used water to rehydrate him that could also be problematic. Dehydration should be treated with fluids and electrolytes

Update, the vet for him is 2 hours away he seems to be doing ok in the car and he being expected so once he gets there he is in the best hands he could be for his situation

For water intoxication would he do that to himself? The water was not forced he drank at his own will

Yes that's possible, but I don't think that's his issue. Like I said I was only answering your question about is it possible to give too much water. Water intoxication is rare

This is killig me right now because I can't do anything to help. I had to move to VA for a job And my wife is in NJ with my Cham

You are doing a lot more than a lot of people I have seen. Just keep sending out positive vibes. Hopefully it's a quick and easy fix.

If he has bubbles it's RI. I had a little one aspirate from falling in water(my stupid mistake) and got an RI. Bubbles were coming from his mouth every time he drank or ate. Mainly when he drank. He did not make it due too other issues. He had developing MBD bc he wouldn't hardly eat, his growth was insanely stunted and then on top of it he fell and landed in some water. Soon after he started gasping a lot when he dank and then bubbles started. The meds are what killed him. His body was way way wha too tiny to handle any meds. Bigger Chammies can easily handle antibiotics as long as they are well hydrated. Best of luck. I think your guy is in good hands. As long as you get some meds in his system soon he should be fine within a few weeks or less! Keep us posted!

Ok all the water my wife gave him actually did a lot of good, he is on an antibiotic and thank god I ordered him a tub of horned worms. The vet said the horned worms will help him recover faster. Now for the problem, the mister system is was caused his infection the vet said a mister system should only be used in very dry climates. Looks like I have rig up a new dripping system. My buddy Carl is going to make a full recovery.
