i usually try to discourage mine from sleeping during the day , i figure a captive enviroment lacks the proper stimulation to keep them energetic, every once in a while you find one on the floor of the cage looking like he is dead , but if you give them a couple of jousts with a bamboo skewer they are up and running again , i dont know if its an exaustion thing or a boredom thing but i figure it cant be good . as i am sure you know xanth neonates have a rep for just dropping dead without reason and i figure that may be part of the equation , sort of the cham equivealent of SIDS, i have seen some that looked for sure like they would die if left alone, but give them a little stimuli and they are on a new tank of gas, also be forewarned, they are the debris eaters from h**l, they can find debris in a cage that is spotlesly clean, so i figure unrecognized impaction may be another part of the riddle , just my2c for whatever its worth , also since you are in denver, i was wondering if they came from cf member titan ? i have kept veileds in the past, and they were cool, but i think xanths are a more rewarding species , their dancing, their shyness, and their sweetheart personalities, combined with that jurassic look, make them a really fascinating and rewarding choice /edit / ps what kind of plant is that?
