So pet wharehouse had a cornsnake in a small plastic container inside their veiled's cage...i told them thats why she was up in the corner and that they should immediately move it...and they did. I have never had anyone from a petstore think twice about what i tell them...great success!

Great job!! i usually bitch at most pet stores that have chams lol, saving one chameleon at a time! :D

nice! maybe if they listen to that you can also get them to do other things lol. how was the cham's husbandry? health wise? i hope it's OK!!!

I quit going in my local pet land recently they usually have proper setups for their chams but the last time they had two veileds listed as Fishcers and when I told them they had them mislabeled the girl said oh which ones a veiled is it that one? I said no they both are she looked at the tag and said no they are Fischers and walked away. I'm glad you got somethin done. I never could stand it when Petco would put snakes and with frogs or lizards. Why would you put predator with prey?

So, feel free to "reward" the store for listening. Once you find a responsive store that seems to care, be a customer and tell them why. I love becoming a trusted source of good info for a store. Good things can come of it and you can build a little partnership with the staff.

I was at a petstore the other day and it was a dump. The guy that worked there had no idea what he was talking about and definitely did not like his job. I think I am going to call the owner, tell him his place is a dump, and tell him if he hires me it will be very clean and the animals will be healthy. The python's water was brown?!?!

Maybe I took you too literally, but IMHO if you walk in and say the place is a dump I doubt the owner will want to take you on. Instead, say you are very interested in working there, that you'd love to see good quality animals, enclosures, produces, politely point out all the good things you could do for the animals and the store if you were employed there. Possibly ask for a project to show what you can do (and take on cleaning the herp cages the way they SHOULD be done).

They had her in a closed off cage, not much ventilation from what i could tell, and had standing water...which was right next to the snake cage, so i don't imagine it was hydrated at all...i mentioned a few things, and the guy said he would tell a supervisor, but immediately moved the snake when i left. She looked healthy, and colored up when we were looking at her...like she was begging to be taken home! poor thing. I wish i could afford to adopt everyone from this town.
