Snake people?

Any snake enthusiasts on here? A friend of mine is rehoming her male sand boa to me because she can't take it with her when she moves back into her parents house. I've never had a snake before and was looking for pointers. Of course I'm going to do my own research but it would be awesome if someone could help get me started in the right direction. Thanks

Dont they eat mice right? Snakes can go a long time without feeding also, like months (event though it is not very good for them)

I plan on feeding it once a week. Frozen mice. A brown snake that eats worms and slugs sounds adorable.

He is

Its sad because people near me think they are copperheads and kill them when they are clearly not. Netro (his name) is so sweet and im still working with him on getting used to being held, but he dosent bite and even if he did it would not hurt cause he is so small.

I have cared for a lot of different snakes back when I worked at a reptilian zoo/shelter...
I don't like them as a pet because they are boring compared to lizards and they seem pretty good at escaping since we would get a corn or king snake or two every day when it was summer...
Snakes are relatively easy to care for, especially if you compare them to Chams.

That's quite the little noodle @Theveiled I agree on rats, even if it's pups they are more nutritious than mice. My girlfriend has a few ball pythons but we don't have any boas, the sand boas are really cool though. Much easier than a Cham, no UV needs and don't need much space just enough for a 10 degree heat gradient or so and sand boas are usually very handleable from the ones I've interacted with.

I love snakes! I used to have a corn snake when I was in college. Brought it back from when I was a counselor on Florida for a summer. I would love a Rosey boa. But,the Hubbie loathes snakes. He deals with the lizards to keep me happy and so that I don't get a snake.

Good to know.

From what I was reading they're great beginner snakes. I'm excited to get him. What about supplements

Before I fell head over heals for chameleons all I had were snakes. I had litterally 1000s come and go. Lots of sand boas to.
Am I correct to assume it's a Kenyan sand boa?
If I'm correct be careful when trying to locate him if you are trying to take him out. They are expert ambush predators. They are naturally kinda jumpy. Most of them will bite you eventually.
Do not give him sand to burrow under. They can easily ingest it. I always kept mine on Sani chips. They will get all the way under it with just the tiniest bit of there nose sticking out. This is how they naturally are able to catch there food. There basically invisible as far as there food items are concerned.
No UVB required. Give him a nice hot spot. Under tank heaters work well. And make sure it doesn't cover more than half. That way he can regulate his own body temp. NO HOT ROCKS!! They have been burning snakes since they were first made.
