So any guesses how soon ...

wow congrats on the babies. I have a pair of mt. meru jacksons. Your babies are so cute. make sure you keep us updated. Good luck with them. I am glad there are still 8 little ones. I am sure you were more then happy when you found him crawling about. :D Keep the pics coming. :D

Thank you ... they are cool to watch . I actually fell asleep laying there watching them today . I'll definitely keep you all posted through this thread . Plus , if I don't post updated pix , Laurie will beat me up ... lol . :D

quick question, maybe stupid but wanted to ask, do you have to take the babies out of moms enclosure as soon as the baby is out??? is there a fear of her eating her young??

I know with my crested I have to keep babies away as both mom and dad will find them a tasty snack!!! Actually mom tried through the glass, launched herself at a baby in the neighbouring tank!!!

Funny you should word it that way cause from what I read and have been told , that's exactly why ... the mother may confuse the them with food and eat them .

Ok , before anybody yells at me , I know this isn't the proper setup ... lol . Tomorrow is payday and until then I had to go a little McGyver here . So I snipped some vines from their mom's plant , put water in a little jar to keep vines alive and so far it seems to be working . They're moving around and active , so I'm guessing that's a good sign . So here's a couple more pix of them :

In their temporary setup

If those are Pothos cuttings they will take root in water. I took a cutting of mine using advice from others on here, and it took a good few weeks to get roots coming through. I first saw Monty's clutch at two weeks of age and to us they all looked the same. If anything, we thought there was a higher percentage of males. Over a year down the line, only 3 actually turned out to be male and at least 4 of the females that I know of still have tiny horn nubs. Just sharing my experiences here. It seems like such a long time ago, yet it also seems like it was just yesterday, its all so fresh in my mind!:D The only thing I can't remember is the number in the clutch. I think it was 15 with two still borns and then another two didn't make it either for reasons unknown.

Joe the water needs to come out now. One of your cuties can fall in and drown. If you keep wet paper towels in their tank it will help with humidity. They are completely fine in that tank for the next month. Don't worry McGyver, we will get you there.

And about the pictures - well yes if I don't see my pictures you will suffer.:eek:

You would be correct , Miss Lily ... those are Pothos clippings . Only reason I'm saying males on certain ones is that I'm noticing distinct differences in their heads when side-by-side . First clutch she had 11 ( 1 stillborn and 10 alive ) , but within 10 days they all had died , 2 of which had died the first day . This time she had 9 ( 1 stillborn and 8 alive ) . So far , the little ones seem to be doing good . They're crawling around their little jungle gym and climbing on the vines . Keeping my fingers crossed that they make it this time .

Oh ... never thought of that . Ty for bringing that to my attention , Miss Laurie . Ok , McGyver time ... I'll close off the top enough so the vines can be in but nothing else can get in . Then tomorrow , they get a whole plant

It didn't even cross my mind about the water! Can you cover the top of the jar with mesh or something for now? I use the fabric netting that is used in ballet tutus to cover my drip catchers, secured around the top with an elastic band.

Already taken care of ... lol . Took the lid and punched a hole in it . A piece of tape over the remaining opening and voila !! Instant fix ... ty again for the heads up , Laurie . You're a lifesaver ... literally

Laurie is an absolute gem, bless her! It feels like she's been with me at every step of my chameleon journey since 2008! :D

I agree completely ... she's been helping me ever since these little ones were born . Don't know what I'd do without her on this . Camimom has been helping since I joined this site . She's another one that I'd be screwed without . They are 2 of the best .

On a sad note , one of the babies has no eyes , so his passing is inevitable . I got a good look at his face today . I wondered why he kept falling and not climbing back up . So I put my hand in to check on him and he crawled up my hand to my arm . That's when I noticed it . Damn breeders and their inbreeding .

Your little babes are absolutely, utterly adorable!! Congrats on the successful birth of your 8 babies!! I can't wait to see them grow! :)

Awww, that's so sad. Poor little thing. :( They are so tiny it's hard to get a good look at them!

Got paid this morning and started spending right after work . Walmart for 60w bulbs , river stones for plants , tote and kale for crickets , workshop lamp ... then over to Petsmart for UVB lamp and bulb , and finally to Home Depot for 2 aloe plants . Here's what I came up with , using PVC pipes and joints I had laying around .

How'd I do ??

I think it looks good. can you measure the temp and humidity in the tank? that is all I can see you might not hace thought of.

I have to figure out how ... if I put the sensors in , they'll climb the wires and get out ... that's the last thing I want ... lol . Gotta find a way to hang them out of their reach .

Ok everybody ... this is a couple firsts for me . First time seeing the babies eat ( or any babies for that matter ... lol ) and first attempt at posting a video . Here goes nothing ... I now present to you " Babies Eating " :

By the way , pay close attention to the video at 2:22 . The one that came down from above shoves the other one with a stiff-arm move nearly off the stick ... lmao .
