some hoehnelii breeding information

Well unfortunately iv had to take the pregnant Misery T**s out of the big cage and put her back into a smaller one on her own. She just wouldn't quit having those black eyes and swaying backwards and forwards at the other female and male. On the plus side she is heavier! so hopefully things are growing in her belly!

Another plus side is that my other female who has been a bit hit and miss on the whole eating front has now been moving around the cage more and has been enticing the male, he is bobbing away like there is no tomorrow, she keeps thrusting her chin out and going all speckly until he bobs, its so funny to watch.

Here is a pic of Misery's new set up. It has a hanging plant which is Pothos, a spider plant, some mini palms and a sweet bromeliad I got from Asda (walmart to you transatlantic folks) for £2.50 so around $3.50? Still need to add a UV for her, but off to ikea to get a new lamp to hold an exo terra 5.0 bulb I have.

lol she is such a misery though! I feel like cant win at the minute, iv put the pregnant one in the other viv and she is still miserable, black eyes, dark all the time.

The other female is just not eating but she is really restless climbing all over the cage, I'm worried she has some parasites, but she isn't/hasnt passed any poop for days.

So iv now had to move Les Mis (or rocking Robin depending on her mood) back into the main cage and quarantine the other one.She is exploring the smaller viv though quite frantically and throwing out the diamonds but isn't drinking or eating.

Poor Phantom the male doesn't know what to do with himself.

Any suggestions? Setting up a third viv is totally out of the question at the min or the other half will go mental :(

Have you had their faeces tested?

No, Im hoping that if she takes a wax worm or 2 tomorrow it might start to shift things. I havnt seen her go poop for a while. Iv got some powdered Panacur from Dartfrog.co.uk that iv been trying use on her, but to no avail, as she isn't eating anything. Hopefully tomorrow she will wake up in her new home and start eating once she feels a bit safer.

I have some pimple pots from Pals ready, Il hopefully collect some over the next few days. she doesn't look dehydrated so I guess thats a plus, and she isn't sitting still, but she has times when I catch her with an eye shut, but not both of them.

Fingers crossed.

I hope she improves for you bless her. It's not nice collecting the poop, I did a pooled sample as my pair live together.

Well a very sad thing happened. My female hoe gave birth to her second lot of babies prematurely. I didn't think she was due until the end of April as I saw them do the deed but she have birth just over a week ago. She was carrying 12 babies but a few were already dead and a few died soon after without making it completely out of the egg sac. Seven survived but one was deformed and died after a few days. The others are active, eating and pooping although I am particularly concerned about one of them. I am gutted about what happened but I really hope that I can pull the survivors through.

So sorry to hear that, Ive just found this thread and was enjoying reading up on Hoes. They are just so beautiful.
I have to give you credit, you have done well to have some survive :)
If they were not due until April, its a miracle that any of them have made it....Good luck in keeping them going, I really want to watch this post and I hope that you can continue to keep some alive.
Very sad to hear you lost some :( but Good luck in pulling the others through.

Thank you, they will be my little miracles if they do. The other three from the last batch seem to be doing great.

Well my little lady seems to be getting bigger, coming up to 2 months since the magic happened. I weighed her before and she weighed in at 17grams, I dont know what she weighed before but she was definately lighter and thinner.

I downgraded them from Hoe Towers as they just wernt utilising the space in the 2x2x4ft cage, so they are back in their old viv for now but im ordering them a 18x18x36" cage tomorrow.

bad news on Gretel Joanna, fingers crossed the little ones pull through.:)
