Ok, my male Panthers have stopped eating super worms and roaches. Its been like this for about a week now. Temps are fine, water is plentiful, humidity hasnt changed from before.
Any suggestions???? The females and my Veileds are eating them just fine, as our my Beardies, Monitors, and Geckos.
Everybody gets all the natural sun that they want....every day just about.....

It is not uncommon for panthers to go on food strikes from time to time. Try new foods, silkworms are usually good for this as are flies, even crickets may spur them into eating if they are not a common food.

Yea, they eat crickets no problem, but I have roach and worm colonies and thats what I want them to be on since its less money........

I am having the same problem with my panther. Up until two days ago he was munching on superworms, now today he literally hisses and gapes his mouth at me when I offer him one! And seconds later he will take a cricket no problem. I have also heard that chams will often go on hunger strikes or refuse a certain food item, so I wouldn't worry too much. As Vegas Chad said, try something different for a while. Maybe order crickets cheaper in bulk online. (I get mine from LLL reptile). I'm sure you could feed off the crickets to your other reptiles as well, and maybe once they run out your panthers will be ready to go back to superworms and roaches.

I think I read on another thread that if you withhold food for a bit they will get hungry and eventually eat, though I am new to chams so I would take my advice with a grain of salt. I don't want you to starve them!

To be fair, no one (including humans) will be ok fed exclusively 2 items for the rest of their reminding lives.
If money a bit tight, consider joining SBCK group meeting and trade off some of your worm and roach colony for other feeder there (we met once a month. This month meeting will be on Yorba Linda -close to Anaheim).
i am sure someone will be willing.

personaly, I woldn't worrie at all.
this is normal for chameleons, and many other animals too.
after all, I know that I get moody if all I can eat is hamburgers every day.

my baby panther out right loves crickets. never saw him not strike at one right away.
he likes everything else, as long as it moves alot.
he enjoyed silkies for the first few days, but once they started to grow he started to turn his nose up at them.
he always hated phienix worms regardless that I got him to eat 3 of them.
he never took any supers from his cup, but put one on his basking spot and he'll shoot at them before my tweezer even lets go of them.
he also like butters but only on a leaf or vine, not in a cup.

you can say my little guy is strange, but I'm sure it's perfectly normal.:p

Now dont go saying including humans...lol I'd be just fine with pizza and tacos!! lol

How often are you feeding them?

-Brad

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Sat. and Sun. I mix up what I feed them to. I have Lobster, Dubia, Turks., and Hisser Roaches, Superworms and occasionally give them Silkies and flies. And Im getting some Mantids in a couple of day. I dust every other feeding for adults and every feeding for babies and young.

Varied diet helps.

I can get you 500 crickets for 5 bucks. Meeting is on a Saturday, June 20th
I have half my chams outdoors right now, and have fed very little to them in the last four days, with the overcast skies. Double whammy here with fog rolling in from Dana Point and the Newport bay.
