spider IN her nose hole -

little leaf

I think Olive has a baby spider IN her nose hole - I have tried for 3 days to get it off or out of her nose- I watch it go down on a web off her face- but as soon as I start to open the door to her cage, she moves, and it goes back up - she is still very weary of me - but for the last 3 days I have watched and tried to get it - it must be IN her nose- she will rub her face, and has been going 1/2 way down her vines to the depth of her plant and going black - I have been killing baby spiders for 3 damn days !! I do not have another cage to move her to- I have taken her out ( much stress to her) and looked at her nose - I can see NOTHING- but it wont be long, and sure enough - I will see the spider on its web hanging off her nose again, I am very worried about it doing something bad to her nose- how on earth do you get something like that out- I think I have gotten all the spiders out- except this one- this am I tried to spray it off w/ a water bottle - it did not work- any ideas - I know it sounds funny- but its not :(

I dont know if this need to be moved to health - ? admin please move if needed

umm my first thought would be putting her in the shower and maybe it would run out to try to escape the continous water! but i dont know anything bout cham anatomy and if it could continue up her nasal passage. my next thought was placing a fan in frount of her to where it blows up her nose because ive seen spiders take off of their webs when fans shake their webs... thats all i have to offer im sorry i hope someone has something better!!!

Up the calcium intake so she does mineral sneezes?

I cant- we are fighting gular edema from over sup/ - the ppl I got her from were using D3 daily on her- she is a Jackson -

ReptileLove18, I did try water- it runs- UP into her nose - I am sure it is IN her nose, because when I took her out, it was no where on her face- but back on her in about 20 min- if she can break the web thread I think it will stay off- and then I can kill it - they are tiny orange ones- it must have come from her new plant - even tho I washed all the leaves, and put rock over the dirt - somehow it got a nest in there- I dont know if the mom spider was ever there- I never saw it - maybe she ate it? or it was just the nest in there - somehow- baby spiders got in there

she goes to the vet on the 7th for a reg check up- but that is a long time off for something like this -

Poor Olive! I hate spiders.. Maybe the vet can give some over the phone advice. All I can think of is an extra long misting.. and that's not very creative

thats what i was afraid of when i suggested it.. damn spider... i hope you're able to kill it it must be irrating for Olive to feel it crawling around on her. :(

I'm sure it won't do any real harm, if the spider moves down into the throat your Cham will probably eat it, and the baby spider doesn't have room in there for building a web, so I'm sure it will move on once it realizes there's not food. If you see it come out of the nose, dot startle it, and hopefully it will move on.

What a strange and annoying thing to happen!

There's a member here called Miss Lily and she has a lovely jacksons called Monty. Lily made a thread where a little spider had spin a web in Montys horns :D I don't think the spider will cause any harm to your girl.

Get a 6 cc syringe with a needle on it from your vet. Fill it with water. Then when it's out push hard on the plunger. It will create a fine hard stream of water that will knock the spider off the web. Be careful not to hit your chameleon.

Poor Olive! I am sure it is annoying to her and hopefully it won't do any harm and move on pretty soon. Sorry I don't have any advice other than to lend some support

What an odd problem to have...

The only thing I would say is most anything you could do to get it out would probably be more harmful than the spider itself. Now I know that is completely useless to help but I see all too often people making problems worse by getting freaked out.

If it were me I would just wait it out and keep trying to catch it while it is hanging. Hopefully someone with a bit more anatomy and knowledge of any possible real harm will swing by and comment...

here it is -

well, I got it- I put her on her weighing stand so she could not run off- and just sat there - waiting - I knew it would poke out- when it did I used a soft fan brush and snagged it off - it is TINY - and UGLY - can anyone tell what kind it is? the last pic is how I prefer THIS spider !
poor Olive- she is never going to like me :( she was just getting used to eating out of my hand- after all this, just the site of me makes her upset AGAIN - she is also up wayyyy past her bed time - but I just would have had nightmares of it in her nose hurting her if I had not gotten it out- NOW I let my poor girl go to bed - what a hell of a thing to have in your nose !

Wow I was itching my nose reading this post. I work in an er and we remove all kind of insects from human ears/noses. Poor Olive.

Thanks for sharing.

Poor little Olive :(
That's bound to be very irritating for her.

Sometimes I see mysterious little web strands on or in my cham cages, but so far, have not seen a spider.

I'm sure the little thing will go away soon, or get whipped away.

That second pic made me laugh out loud!!
She will get over it.
I had to pull a unusually nasty semen plug out of Smeagie once. Had to wrap him in a towel! He hated me for a few days, but then forgot all about it! :)
