Spurs!! Help Please!

Miss Lily

Chameleon Enthusiast
Well, I've had Amy for almost 3 weeks now, and I did check that there were no spurs when I got her, but now I'm not so sure. The last couple of days I think I see spurs on the back of her feet, but other times I look and can't see them!

So, does anyone have a photo of what a baby veiled's spurs look like at about 3-4 months old? If you have, please post it for me! In the meantime, I will try and get photo of 'Amy's' feet. Don't hold your breath though, she hides whenever I get the camera out - thinks it's gonna eat her, lol!

Thanks Jo! Her foot does look like the second pic. Can't always see the bump though. Trying to get a pic - not very successful though! The only camera that I can get anywhere near her is my pink mobile phone which takes c**p pictures!:D

Tiff that isn't even funny, as much as you wanted a girl!!! I will still keep my fingers crossed for Amy to remain Amy and not have to be Amos. If it is Amos I might be talking to the breeder you bought "her" from.:D

Bah! Lil will love the hell out of it anyway I think! :)
When homer was very small, about a month old, it was difficult to be sure. Looked alot like just the shape of the foot/heel.
It wasnt till about 2.5-3 months that it began to stick out a bit more and I was fairly confident that 'he' was a he.
How about "Andy' :D

Pity a boy called Amy! Imagine the hell at school!
Reminds me of an old country western song called 'A boy named sue'.

Could always be a he/she! :D

That's what I'm worried about! When my daughter got her first hamster we bought it as a female. She called her Molly. Molly then grew his man bits! Poor male hamster with a girl's name, LOL! I called it the 'Him-Ham Her It Thing!' So I guess I could have a Him-Cham Her It Thing! Anyway, jojackson is right, if Amy turns out to be an Amos, he will be loved whatever!

Had her out just now, and one foot has more of a bump than the other. Maybe it's just how the foot is. I would have thought that by 16 weeks the spurs would be very obvious. Guess I'll just have to wait and see when she gets a bit bigger! Still can't get photos of the foot - it's like trying to hold an eel!:D I need at least one more pair of hands and then some! She could win Olympic gold in the chameleon sprint!:D

I do admit I don't come across very many Male Amy's...I thought it was a French thing.

By this time you should start noticing some colors. Nothing to obvious, but some barring and stuffs. Compare her to pics of Lily at the same age, you should start noticing little differences, like taller casque and other little things.

Sadly, I haven't got photos of Lily to compare her with. I didn't get Lily until she was 6 months old, so I missed out on all the baby worries with her! She goes very spotty and stripey when she's mad at me, but I don't see any banding as yet. I'm beginning to think that maybe her feet are just going through a 'pudgy' phase. She walks like she's wearing wellies that are 5 sizes too big, lol!:D

Could just change the spelling to "Amie"
