stories?

soi've been on this forum for about a week now, and it has been very informative, though for the most part i feel people seem to focus on the downsides of things rather than the awesome things these particular creatures are capable of. so! what i want is stories from people about interesting/peculiar/downright awesome things that your pets have done or do on a regular. even different personality traits, as i'm sure that everyone who has spent more than a few minutes with a chameleon will realise they are all individuals with different personalities. for example, my guy that i have had for about a week and a half now is a fischer's chameleon. now an interesting physical trait of this species is that their tail is longer than most chams. an interesting use he has for it is using it as a rope, looping it around a branch and then reaching up and grabbing it with his hand to pull himself up, so for a few seconds he's holding on by nothing but the tip of his tail and his hand holding his tail, which looks awesome. he also readilly takes prey items right out of my hands, which i thought would take longer before he even tried that. so thats mine for now, where's yours? :)

Well this morning, my chameleon was still learning/exploring his new set up and..his new mistking timer. No longer are the days where he fears my red hand-pump bottle mister. Today, after some basking, he walks a vine right up to the head of the mister nozzle, sits there and BAM, sprays in his face. He closes his eyes and starts doing his seizure sorta freak-out cuz he doesn't know if he is near another vine to get away from the DIRECT spray. The mister turns off 20 seconds later and for about a minute, the guy seems really angry with himself

I don't know if he will be smart enough to avoid that nozzle at the times it goes off but he is using the vine above the nozzle for now :p

My 5 month old panther is a grumpy boy for about 1 hour after the lights come on. He will roar and hiss and everything eles. Then I go to open the cage to give him a drink, as he is still throwing a fit. Then AS SOON as he sees the spray bottle, he shuts his mouth, puts a smile on his face and I swear I see a hallow appear over his head, and he comes running to the bottle for a drink. And drinks right out of the tip of the bottle.:)
And we go threw this everyday. But I wouldnt change it for anything. He is so cute. I love him very much.

The other day I took this picture of Earl eating out of his feeder bucket it made me giggle because it reminded me of a lazy old man lol

Nosy Be!!! Wilson...

Well, I have had Wilson for about a week and he has been awesome! He has settled in quicky! On day two of having him he shed. He eats and drinks very well right in front of me. He also will eat from my hand already which is great I thought that may take longer! He likes being misted too he will come up and sit there pretty close and let me spray away! He shuts his eyes and sometimes he will kinda "stand up" almost as if to say "Hey, be sure you get all my parts!"
I wish I could get a pic but I don't have enough hands!!!
:D

My first female, Lily was very special. When she was in shed I would put on a knitted glove and she would hold my thumb with her front feet and rub the shed off of her eyes on the rough fabric. I had a great bond with her. Amy has done it once - when she got shed stuck in both eyes at the same time.

My male, Tommy, lets me know when he wants to come out of his viv - he'll sit at the bottom by the door and wait, and if that doesn't worl he literally knocks on the glass with his nose till someone lets him out! :D He is so cute and nice natured and I love him and Amy so much! I really enjoy looking after them! I enjoy everything about keeping chamleons, including scooping poop, lol!

My veiled, Charlotte, is quite a character. And a drama queen! If I'm sitting in the chameleon room tiying up or doing whatever, and I haven't opened her cage door, she will climb to my level and just scratch and push at the door until I open it. And she's capable of doing it for an hour or more! lol If she had a voice I bet she would sit there crying and begging.

And once she's out she's a girl on a mission. She remembers where I keep all the feeder bins and will do everything to get at them. I usually keep the crickets right under the table she's on, that way she can't see them, but when I let her run loose in the chameleon room, she will get down from her designated tree/branches, reach across furniture, and then leap into the cricket bin! More than once I've heard a thud and came back into the room to find her running amongst the crickets like Godzilla! lol And if she's lucky she'll snatch up a couple of them before I pick her up and put her back. I've started having to put the insects in other rooms, but she'll still try to cross the house to find them!

I've had Mia since jan this year, she was 9weeks when i got her. She's so friendly and often bangs on the door to be out. I think she is extra special because of how friendly she is. Some days she'll just come out and sit on my shoulder while im tidying up or getting dressed, even when im doing my make up and she's on my shoulder her reflection in the mirror doesn't bother her. Other days she'll be very happy just sitting on my hand for ages getting her neck stroaked. Chameleon's are amazing, i would never part with mine for no body. I love my little green friend so much!

I free range my guys so they give me allot of stories.

We have our back screened porch full of plants, vines and branches with a jungle in a very large cage that I just leave the door open on. Luie loves to go out there. He will crawl down off his tree in the living room and go over to the sliding glass door that leads out to the porch and just stay there for the longest time scratching to go out. It's been so hot lately in the 90's that he can't go out. I feel so bad for him. Sometimes I'll take him out back for a quick walk around the pool to try to get his mind off it. I'll bring him back in and he's good on his tree another hour or so and then he's back over scratching at the door again.

One of my C. chamaeleons was missing from his cage one day and one half of the door was open about an inch....it was a sliding glass door (two halves, both sliders). I thought I must have left it open when I fed him...so I found him and put him back. The next day he was gone again....and I knew that there was no way it was left open again. He figured out how to slide open the door and get out. I don't know how he was strong enough to move that piece of glass...it was big and heavy. I looked everywhere for him and couldn't find him. When it was dark, I tried again with the help of a flashlight and found him on the tools for the fireplace...all curled up for the night! I had to tape the doors shut after that! This is the same chameleon that, every night, used to curl up like a dog in a dog bed in the peanut butter jar lid that was in his cage to sleep!

My awesome male sambava is super food motivated and does anything for it. He also like to aim at your eyes or fingers. He climbs onto my hand (and sometimes even other people's hands!) he does this really adorable thing when I surprise him. Sometimes I spook him a little when I walk up behind him and he puffs up Quickly and opens his mouth like he's mad BUT then it turns out he's just yawning. Then he looks at you with his big buldgy eyes and you can't help but to think he's cute. Plus he's way smaller than average so he's even cuter.

He will also climb down from his free range occationally and walk over to me if I'm in the room. :)

I wish you had a picture of him sleeping. :)

I came into the chameleon room last night and when I turned on the light, there was rocko, sleeping hard, about to fall off of his sleeping branch. It was hystierical how hard he was sleeping and hanging halfway off.

This morning one of my juvenile brevs somehow managed to get out of a 100% closed terarium, climb down 4 feet, climb another 3 feet to a plant on the floor, somehow climbed up the side of a smooth 6" pot and decided to hang out in the plant. Looks like I have an adventurous little girl :) still don't know how she got out though:confused:

my little girl if i have her at my computer with me will climb off my finger, along the speaker wire, up the USB chord, along my air soft unjamming rod and up the outside of her cage and get in if she doesnt want to be out anymore ^^
