which one would be best for a basking spot the sun glow halogen 75W or zoo meds 60W blue bulb ?? and if so then i need to make sure it sits a certain distance to stay around 85F correct ? for my juvenile jackson chameleon and veiled
For a basking bulb I would skip those altogether and use a normal incandescent or halogen bulb, like you'd use for your home. The wattage you need will depend on how your temperatures settle in the cage, but it could be just a 50w for the Jackson's and a 65w for the veiled.
You can get a multipack of incandescent bulbs from a home improvement store, for example, and see which ones work best.
ok sounds good i have alot of bulbs stored in a bag used for the house i well deff see which one works best quick question though why do you say to not use either ?
Not because they're dangerous or anything (although the blue color on one of them is unnatural) but they don't do anything that a normal bulb can't do (put out heat and white light) so it's cheaper and works just as well. Those reptile basking bulbs, unless they produce UVB, are just a ploy to get you to spend $7+ on a single incandescent bulb
kindah figured that xD and since i got the 75W halogen imight as well use it since i already bought it , i put in 40W for both enclosures and it keeps the basking spot around 84 / 85 which is good but the bad thing i think is that it barely puts any light into the cage .. maybe i should just get higher wattage and just adjust the distance from basking spot to get correct temps yea ?
