Supplement Question

Hi all,

For my Jackson chameleon, how often should I provide him with supplements. I'm trying to create a weekly schedule for him to ensure he receives adequate amounts of calcium and vitamins including D3. I bought both the D3 version and the non-D3 version of Calcium supplements.

I have the following:
- MULTIVITAMIN: Herptivite Blue Bottle
- MULTIVITAMIN: Zoo Med Reptivite WITH Vitamin D3
- CALCIUM: Rep-Cal WITH Vitamin D3
- CALCIUM: Zoo Med Reptile WITHOUT Vitamin D3

Thanks!

if you gutload good, with lots of calcium enriched foods, you will prob only need to suppliment plain calcium once or twice a week. and if he gets natural sunlight, D3 prob once a month or less. if no natural sunlight, id do every other week. and the multi i would give sparingly once or twice a month...the better you can gutload with natural vitamins and suppliments, the better off your cham will be :) this is only my routine tho, there are plenty more routines out there. or your best bet is to customize your own based on your chams needs, what he gets naturally, and what he doesnt.

For the first 5months or so I had my jackson, I gave her calcium no D3 at every feeding and the multi twice a month. For the past month I've switched to the repashy calcium plus, on about 4 out of of her feeders. She is much more active, and even shoots her tongue further, and is more "predator" like, instead of waiting for the food to get close. So, so far so good with the repashy for me, I recomend it, but have only used it on my xanth for a month, so keep that in mind...

Hello
Does your jack go outside? What prey do you give him? What do you feed the prey?

Generally speaking, Jacks appear to need quite a bit less supplementation than panthers - perhaps half.

My Jackson never goes outside. It eats primarily large brown crickets with an occasional super worm (1-2 per week).

I gutload the feeders with the following products mixing them in a bowl. Let me know if this is sufficient:

Zilla Gut Load Cricket & Insect Food - 4 oz
Fluker's 12 oz Orange Cube Complete Cricket Diet
R'Zilla 11823 Gut Load Cricket Drink with Calcium, 16-Ounce Bottle
Nature Zone Cricket Total Bites Gutload 24oz
Fluker's 16-Ounce Cricket Quencher Calcium Fortified
Hi Calcium Cricket Diet

i give my jacksons calcium once maybe twice a week, and calcium w d3 and a multivitamin once a month. i also try to get him outside a bit when it's nice, but now its getting cold for winter so i may increase d3 to twice a month to make up for the lack of natural sunlight he gets. i also try to gutload my feeders as best as possible before feeding

And when you do sprinkle the powder that once or twice a month, do you sprinkle it on all your feeders or just 1 of them. I just want to be sure I don't overdo and give him too much.

You are welcome.
I use that guide line and mix up different things each time. I make a batch of the dry that usually lasts about 10 days, that way I have to make more and change it up :)
