swollen ankle on my new girl

We got our new little ambilobe 3 days ago and put her in her new home. Other then throwing a few crickets in we have left her alone to get comfortable. We noticed she hasn't moved much so when my wife took a closer look today she noticed swelling by the foot. I'm looking for opinions. We haven't seen her eat or poop and it looks like it could be discomfort from her foot? Sorry if the pics look disorganized, I'm doing this off my phone so it's hard to see what pics I posted lol

I agree, looks like it could be anything from a break to a serious infection. Not something to put off. Good luck and keep us updated <3

I'm going to get her to a vet but things I've noticed since I've been home. Her grip is hampered, maybe 60% but she will hold her herself up. I also I've noticed the swelling doesn't seem painful? In the pictures you will notice she put it against a branch and kept it there. I also put her in a small hospital tank that's to my mist king and and safer if she did fall. If this is an infection what could cause it?

I am not sure honestly. I wouldn't say it's gout... I feel that is too extreme of a swelling than I have ever seen, and she's so young... >.< good luck... I hope she comes with good news.

Was she shipped to you? I recently had a new cham with a very swollen elbow. I automatically thought it was gout, but the vet determined it was not gout but rather an infection. He gave him an injection and also oral antibiotics and it has improved greatly - it takes time in reptiles but the swelling is now nearly gone. The vet felt that it was almost certainly caused by being banged around during import. I realize yours was not imported, but rough handling during shipping is a possibility, or a similar injury before you got her. I'm not saying that's it for sure, but a possibility - and just wanted to encourage you to get her to a qualified vet asap as the others have recommended. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Will do and thanks for the input. It was a 2 hour drive to bring her home and a gentle process. The breeder has been great and when I messaged her and told her she offered a full refund but its tough because I do want her to get better and keep her for a breeder.

Well you sound like an EXCELLENT cham parent and that's a very honorable breeder!!! It definitely doesn't sound like it was the trip home, but who knows, maybe she accidentally got her foot/ankle caught somewhere without anyone knowing and injured it. Once again best wishes.

That's so great that the breeder has been so helpful... I don't know what to tell you, it may be nothing that will affect the lineage, so you may want to wait until after the first vet visit to decide? If the breeder will agree?

Thanks. I took on a rescue a few months back and that certainly killed the vet budget but that's what we sign up for right:confused:

You took on the boy with mouth rot right? How's he doing? Idk if you have updated recently... seems like things have been getting lost a bit in my alerts XD as I don't always see them.

Definitely something we sign up for sadly, just keep breathing and try to budget a bit as much as possible. If you need some help with feeders send me a message and I will see if I have any extra of types that could help you out ^^

Andee that is so kind of you to offer! I should be ok though. Yes I have the rescue from a different thread. He's eating and everything is great and I will give an update on him soon. If i would've known what he would've cost i could've bought a Parsons! lol

XD yeah but in my opinion rescues are so much more.... fulfilling for the soul in a way, just seeing them come in all broken up and on death's door, and then within a few weeks they start to show strength already and then they start to blow your mind with how much they are healing. I have seen it so many times.

And ok, just remember I have feeders and am able to share in case you need it. Usually I would offer more, but even I am strapped for cash >.< . Feeders however I always have on hand and I know how much of a pain it can be to get more when you are running low and trying to conserve. I always have extra in case I see someone who may need them. I mean it's a small thing I can do, but we gotta stick together ^^
