swollen mouth and eye on a Jackson chameleon

I have a year old Jackson who I acquired recently and am noticing his left eye and mouth are slightly swollen. He has great color and eats well. He moves around all day and seems fairly happy. He is new to his screened in enclosure and habitat. Have gone to great lengths to add vines and live plants to replicate a natural habitat for him. He gets misted 3-4 times a day and has a constant big dipper on him. Temp stays between 60 at night and 70 -80 daytime. Humidity stays around 50%. I have his home over a drip tray so I can collect his excess h20 and remove it. Does anyone have any ideas about what might cause his swelling?

It could be many things. A picture would help quite a bit, but the husbandry sounds good. What size is the cage?

Pics would be helpful! Jackson's are prone to temporal gland infections which are located in the corner of their mouth. I don't know if that is what is going on with yours. Get some pics up if you can.

He has tons of energy . I even removed the sheffelara and pathos plants I recently added. The temporal gland infection seems highly possible. He is swollen in the corner of his mouth. Here is a pic

Yes that does look like a temporal gland infection. He will need a vet visit and antibiotics to clear that up. The swelling in his eye could be a secondary or spreading of the original infection.

Yes, I agree. These infections can be very stubborn to treat especially one that has been spreading this long. Just treating it with an antibiotic or a topical won't be enough. The abscess will need to be opened up and cleaned out followed by a course of meds specific to the bacteria causing the infection.
