Take a guess

Great question. I am always looking at imports and wondering if some are hybrids. This was my thought as well after I was reluctant to give up the fact she was not an amber. But, this is actually the look of crypticum in another area of Mada. Also, this is apparently how the gravid females display. She is most certainly gravid. Which is also exciting!!
Babies babies, I want I want

Oh man, the male was a handful. I am only talking about the female. The male took so many people to identify correctly. I had people from Europe, U.S and Mada weighing in on his identification. He is amazing and I am so glad he is crypt and not brev.

Yes, I named him Hippocampus because their tails are exceptionally long. And when he hunts he anchors with his tail and swivels about. He looks like a seahorse....which is Hippocampus. Surely I'm not alone in this....right people!! LOL
Works for me although I have never got to experience this species hunting perhaps you will film it one day.

When I think hippocampus I think about the region in the brain, not seahorses

This is a still shot. But he stays like that hunting. I think it is hilarious. I will try to get some video before I take him home.

Thats why I'm happy you guys have them I know you guys can do it if anyone can. It sucks that I will be leaving Texas in 3 month but at least You guys are just a message away.

For sure. I used to live AZ so I might even consider delivery so I could use it as an excuse to see the old stomping grounds.

That was so funny because you were so positive she was C. amber. I know you are disappointed but it might be a good thing,

How many serious experts weighed in on identifying that male? Researchers, zoo herpetologists, field guides.... He was a real challenge wasn't he.

It was a wonderful education for me, that's for sure. I'm still so surprised at how little is known about them.

There were at least 15 people involved. It was crazy. I was shocked to learn how little is known about the brevicorne-clade in general. There is so much left to discover and get concrete information and data on. Which is actually exciting to me.
