The Greenhouse Grasshopper Gorge

Chameleon Enthusiast
We have a piece of land that is in the middle of nowhere that my great great grandparents used to live on. Nothing or no one has been on the land since roughly 1970ish...so it is perfect for field collecting. I go out about twice a week to collect insects. I swear my melleri know when I do this. If I walk in the greenhouse with crickets, roaches, etc., they are definitely interested. But when I bring in grasshoppers, they go bananas!!

Here are some videos from today's afternoon snack.

Macumba is looking a little rough because she is about to shed. She is one of the few chameleons I have ever had that even when she is in full shed, she actively hunts. I mean shed hanging off the turrets barely being able to see kind of shed. It's hilarious!!

Fantastic footage! Your Malleri are truly amazing. I wish Lucky was such a voracious eater. Thanks for posting the footage. I'l have to see if I can set up a shoot for when I offer horn worms next. Lucky absolutely goes bananas for those big green guys. I wonder if it's the bright green color, their smell, or their taste that their attracted to?

I don't know what it is that get's them stirring so much. I swear they don't even see them. I carry them in the greenhouse in a bucket that is not clear. They just know!!

Hopefully Lucky will give you some good video action for us to see!!

Hey Tabitha! Thanks!

I think you would be a great parent for the melleri. We will have to talk about that want we! (y)

Joel, I think I better move into the reptile shed and the chameleons can have the house!
