The sad, stressed Senegal

So I was at my local petland today. And happened to stop by a a glass window, to find a little green fella. He/she(not sure) was a Senegal Chameleon. Poor thing was in one of those pet keeper container. Like those things you keep crickets in or tarantulas. Its all plastic around, with a handle on top. As if matters couldnt get worse, there were like three deli cups of tarantulas on the top of his cage. Id imagine the ventilation wasnt so good for the poor thing either. And to make it even more sad.....he didnt even have a UVB nor a basking light atop
Funny thing is that I tried to offer them my chams weeks ago and the manager said "Sorry, but I cant accept if you dont have a license. Fish & Wildlife comes in here all the time to inspect and make sure our animals are in good hands and taken care of."
It sickens me how people only care about the buck they make. Seriously. I wanted to report them but dont know who to contact and I was so disgusted by them that I walked out instantly after seeing the poor thing.
Shame. Wish I could rescue him. He was going for $40 bucks too. Maybe a WC. :/

um.........u tried to offer them your chams??????

This was before I witnessed there shameful, poor care. They never cared chameleons up to my knowledge. Seeing this, I wouldnt recommend anyone to try to sell their animals to these stores!

:mad:U were gonna give the babies to them?????? Anil!!!!! Bad impulsive teenager.....BAD!!

Good thing you changed your mind then Anil eh :) I think you'll do better advertising your offspring here mate.

Fish and wildlife is a joke they don't know the difference between panther or Jackson but they are the law and can take your animals. They are not trained in animal classification although they know (sometimes) what is venomous and also crocodiles.
As far as the chameleon don't buy it because you would only be supporting this kind of activity let him lose money and maybe he will stop getting chameleons altogether.

And I apprecaite all the comments folks, its sad. Theres only one petstore I know in my area that knows about reptiles. Hell, all they carry is fishes and reptiles. All there workers know what their selling/dealing with etc. Every animal in there store has the proper care and everything. There called "pet bazaar".
But yeah, stores like these need to be cleaned up. Ive seen a petsmart that had a sick jackson in one of there windows too:'(

If the cham was a sengal it most likely was WC and full og parasites. Sad thing is most of those don't live once they bring them here. They are sweet little chams, I have had 2 and enjoyed them. Sorry the cham had to expierence that :mad:and you had to see it.

It was horrible. NO lighting at all..in the area. I could only see him because of the store lights. And other lizards like beardeds, Iguanas, and even turtles only had a flourescent heat bulb. No UVB whatsoever!!!:(

Does anyone know if that Senegal is still over at the Petland? Lue and I are going to check it out tonight to see what the deal is. We got on Pet Supermarket's case recently about some veiled chams they had at the Aloma store that they evidently didn't know how to care for.
