There are crickets everywhere in my house!!!

well... we aren't really sure... but we think its the new box of crickets we bought. the tub is different and doesnt open or shut very well... so think there might have been a gap and... the rest is history!

lol! Reminds me of the first time I ever got an order of crickets. My daughter was home and I had instructed her to open the box and put them in a 10 gallon tank I had out on my patio. They were 1/4 inch. so I get home and I look in the tank and out of 500 crickets there are 14 in the tank! We had tried to save money and used a tank that was missing one side of glass which we replaced with cardboard. Crickets can climb cardboard we soon found out! Even though I had a screen lid they managed to get out of this little gap between the cardboard and the top! They were everywhere! Most of them were smart enough to escape outside under the door so out of 500 we retrieved like 60!

gratefulj, if your sides are slick, they don't really climb. The smaller ones climb better than the bigger ones, but even they aren't great with glass or smooth plastic, so no lid is probably fine. It sure makes the ventilation thing easy to accomplish.

shit, i had the same problem, actually i have, but it used to be worse, there are crickets everywhere, basement, living room, even in the heat vents i find them, they are everywhere, i keep them in 2 completely sealed 65 quart bins and they still get out. I bought a tokay gecko that i just let walk around whereever the hell he wants, he eats alot of the crickets, its a good help but ive gotten near him without knowing a couple times and got bit on the toes :(

LMAO

I've considered getting a house gecko. Someone talk me out of it.

Submitted for your consideration,

This is funny because I read this post yesterday and after thinking how much it sucks to have random crickets wandering around I had a little accident.

I use plastic 8 cup food storage bin for crickets as I only go through about 20 a week. I bought crickets yesterday an last night dropped the bin. Everywhere! I killed 3 caught about 8 and set the cats loose in the room to find the rest. They only got 2 so far.

I used to work at a pet store years ago and we specifically let house Geckos loose to clean up stray feeder bugs. Then they started breeding free range in the store too and became a bit of a pest. The Gecko trick definitely works for stray crickets but try to only release one gender unless you want a Gecko infestation!

LOL when we have loose crickets my son will go crazy! He hasnt figured out the difference between a cricket and a spider yet so when he's down the hall you can hear me yelling "Mommy! Mommy spiders!"
