Thinking of free ranging...

Im thinking about free ranging my blue bar panther but what are the benefits an downfalls??? Is it really worth it??

In my opinion i think its defiantly worth it. I had my sub adult male Jackson chameleon in a really big cage, i believe it was 3' x 2' or something like that and for the first two weeks i had him he was always black and cranky. Now that i have him free ranging his attitude has changed, he is always his bright beautiful green and he absolutely loves it!!!

Things you have to watch out are: Chameleons are very curious reptiles and sometimes do wonder off so i do recommend keeping the free range in a room if you have other animals. Also setup the cage on a weekend or something so if he does wonder off you can pick him up and put him back in his tree(don't worry as a few weeks go on he will realize that the tree is his territory and will not leave it). I have experience from this because i had setup his free range on a week day and when i got back from school i couldn't find him for a good 10 minutes and it scared me a little. So that is why i suggest keeping them in a room that you can close the doors so he cant wonder around the house.

Another thing is there is the humidity issue, as you probably know humidity has to be quite high for a chameleon. This is why i keep my chameleon in my room so when i close my doors the humidity builds up and my fogger is running 12 hours a day so that helps a lot to. When i get home after 6 hours of school the humidity is usually around 60-75%.

Please if you have anymore questions just respond on this thread and i will answer them for you

Take care :D
