Thinking of getting back into it

BTW I don’t intend on any arguments/drama. I have nothing against anyone here and have had some very stressful times these past 5-10 years(who hasn’t though). Reading stuff when i’m angry/tired is a bad idea and I have definitely taken things out of context before… I needed to lighten up. So it’d just be nice to be involved with animals again and I appreciate what you all do here.

Missed talking to you all as well, what’s new with you? How are the animals?
Well, last year was rough, but then great. In the first half I lost 3 of my chameleons in rapid succession. Then in the second half the fates needed to balance everything and 3 new chameleons came my way in a matter of a few weeks. Life can be such a roller coaster ride.
I’m still here and loving the forum…doing what I can to help others. We’ve been without a bug lord and lacking your wannabe Canuck humor though. 😩 You’ve left some big maple syrup and roach filled shoes empty.
It’s great that you’ve finished school, have been growing new hobbies and that your family is all doing well. I bet your little guys are even more adorable than before. 🤗
Welcome back. 💗

Still having trouble deciding. I was really leaning towards something from the trioceros, but it seems there’s not much CB available. Panthers seem to be the only option-which are awesome don’t get me wrong, but I kind of wanted something i haven’t kept before. Panthers do seem to be the most ‘kid-friendly’ Cham though(of course within reason).

Do you guys find any other species to be more tolerant of viewing/occasional handling? IME parsons got shy around people, veileds got angry, and panthers would usually like to come out once they were used to it.

K. Boehmei would do the trick as well. AMAZING species💪🏻😍😎

Yeah I might hold out for a little to see if my dream Jackson’s is out there somewhere, but if not it’s hard to not go panther. Wish there were still parson cristifer around even!

I want to get a couple reptiles that my kids can interact with more and after that I’ll hopefully get some more sensitive critters more for just looking.

one issue I have with panthers is… JMO, but I feel like they benefit from more space than the average keeper gives them. They are so active and I feel a 2x2x4 isn’t sufficient unless taking them out often. I’d set up a permanent free range if I could somehow manage the misting.

My cristifer is great! She is a little bigger than the male panthers were. Not crazy active but very chill and always hungry! I know Craig’s getting out if the game but maybe he has a hold back or connection?

I’d love to find one available, how old is yours now?!

I understand, I’ve been going through the same thing. I’ve been looking for my Jackson dream chameleon since November. Wife makes fun of me saying that I have pet plants now since twice a week I water them along with having the mistking still spraying a little bit every morning and evening.

Man you’re almost at a year…is yours bio active or BB? If bioactive maybe you could establish a cool cleaner crew while you’re waiting. Like maybe some fancy isopods that otherwise might breed too slow with a Cham occasionally eating them 🤔

You said…”Great to see you too, I actually checked to see if you were here too because last I was I think you were having trouble getting on here or something and weren’t posting.”…been back for a while now..but I was having trouble!

Yeah, my setup is bioactive with springtails and isopods. Some of my isopods running around are huge.

If I don’t find one soon, I think I might switch over to poison frogs. I think they are pretty cool looking with all the different color combos out there.

What kind of isopods do you have?

I’ve always like dart frogs, but haven’t kept them. I feel like I’d get obsessed and there’s so many to pick from 😅

There are many awesome colors to pick from, but yes, at $40-$80 a piece. They could add up fast.

I don’t know what type I have. They are just regular ones to me. I think I got the springtails from you and that’s when I got the baby stick bugs as a surprise when they hatched and started crawling all over my glass doors.

I forgot about those stick bugs… I miss those guys, they were pretty cool.

I’m currently looking at fancy isopod species that could possibly be used as CuC given enough time heh
