Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Veiled chameleon, male, 2-3 months (don't know because I forgot to ask) in my care for 15 days
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
I've handled him a few times, every now and then I feel like handling him so I open the cage and see if he wants to climb on me, if he doesn't I'll just close the cage back up
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
I'm feeding him small crickets, 10-15 every day about an hour after he wakes up so around 9:30-10 am
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
Zoo med's Reptivite reptile vitamins and Zoo med Repti Calcium without d3
Dust them every other day
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
I hand mist him about every 2 hours for about 30 seconds and I see him drink
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
Brown thick poop and white urine, hasn't been tested that I know of
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Screen cage from Zoo med, 16x16x30
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Zoo med 75 watt and 50 uvb
I turn on his lights at 8:30-8:45am and turn them off at 8:30-8:45pm 12 hours on 12 off
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Floor is 70 farenheit and top is 80 farenheit, lowest overnight temp was 64 (had some cold nights in south cali) but it's been at 68 recently and I have a digital thermometer
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
I don't know humidity levels, I need to get a humidity measuring tool
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
No live plants yet, I plan on getting a hibiscus plant, heard they were good for a chameleon
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
It is located in my room next to a wall, cage sits on the ground so top of the cage is 30 inches high. I have a ceiling fan but hasn't been turned on, no air vents, windows are opened halfway to let air in and traffic is very low
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?
I'm located in San Diego California

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.
No current problem

Try not to handle him for now, it will give him time to acclimate, and stress him out less. Try to feed more of a variety of insects. Do you gut load them? Keep the calcium w/o d3, and use it every day for his age, but don't make the feeders look like ghosts. Use the Reptivite every 2 weeks, and does it have d3? Do you mean 5.0 UVB? The temps are all fine, try to raise the hot spot to maybe 82 if possible. Hibiscus are a bit harder to keep indoors, try a pothos or dwarf umbrella plant, or both. Try to elevate the enclosure a bit. Please take pictures of the enclosure, the chameleon, and any supplies you are using. Happy Chameleon Keeping!!! :):p:D:p:) Happy New Year!!! :):p:D:):D:p
