Tips for hydration

Hello everyone I was just wondering if any of you have tips on how to keep veiled chameleons hydrated? I live in southern Ontario and it is very tough in the winter to keep the humidity up in his cage. I have a humidifier going all the time and I have an automatic mister and I also hand mist as often as I can. I also put him in the shower for 15 minutes every few days. His eyes still seem to be very sunken and he seems dehydrated most of the time. He has an all scene enclosure, I put plastic on two of the sides but his humidity only sits at 50% currently. Can anyone give me any tips on how to get his eyes puffed back up and hydrated ? Thanks !!?

I would say feed more worms like horns butters and silks, worms are a great source of hydration and chameleons love them

also try covering the backside of his enclosure with something like paper or cheese cloth so he still has ventilation but it will also keep some humidity from going through along with some heat

Welcome to the forums. What color are the rates? Veiled's do not require a high humidity like some chameleons. Keeping him to moist can cause an RI. You should find this helpful.

Mistings are set for 45 seconds and are set to go off 9 times throughout the day on the hour. He also has refused to eat live insects for the past 4 months so I’ve been feeding him reptiboost through a syringe so horn worms don’t appeal to him

Has you boy had a vet check up and fecal? If he’s not eating, he may have an illness. I would not recommend Reptboost for long term use. You could mash up bugs and feed him via a syringe without a needle. I would take him to a vet with chameleon experience. Give me a minute and I can recommend one.

My vet told me that just water won't help hydration if the cham hasn't got enough vitamins etc. The water will just pass through the body and not have any health benefits
