Today's cricket Production

I know cricket breeding comes up every so often, so thought it would be fun to share this.

Here is today's production, I get about this many every day or two.

Got 25 babies right now and 105 eggs cooking.......

I have 2 long term feeding goals:

1. Get everyone to eat Dubias, they are so easy to breed and gutload.

2. Never buy crickets again!

How many crickets did you have breeding for this many??

I would be interested in your step by step. Are the two smaller containers just dirt that the babies crawled out of? I would like to never buy crix again either and neither of my boys like dubias.

I am getting zillions of pins too from my last breeding project.
The lay box of soil was actually swollen in the middle, creating a tall mound, and it was all bunches of crick eggs!!!
Every day for the last 5 days I have to dump them into the large tub.

I put the lay box, a Tupperware sandwitch box, into a square pan, and stick it in the incubator at 84F.
Every day I have to empty the pan, because the bottom is completely covered with little pins!!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this.

I start with 2000 adults. I place 2 of the little tupperware tubs you see in the pic in the tub of crickets. They are filled with dirt and have a screen lid on them.

Leave them in tub for 3 days.

Place the tubs with dirt in the large tub you see the crickets in and place that on heat tape.

Depending on ambient temp, crickets hatch in around 12 days.

I have three of the large tubs, so, I have about 16 of the lil tubs of dirt rotating through the process. Provides 1000+ every couple days I am guessing.

Id like to say I am no longer dependent on buying them, but with all the hungry mouths, I do occasionally buy a couple thousand 3/4" crix, let them grow up, and keep the cycle going.

I am sure if I ever get a lull in babies being born I could get self dependent.

Thanks for all the info, this is really useful. Do you have pictures of the tubs with the adults? What do you feed the pinheads and adults? How do you go about cleaning?
