They had a special sale and I over ordered giant size hornworms!!

Now I have way too many horns that are too large for feeding to my chams!!

I dont want to just throw them out! maybe I could make a nice hornworm pie!!

How big do they get just before they go into cocoon stage?
I tried breeding them once, it was not succesful, and they make a terrible mess!!

Any suggestions?

if you do it correctly they really are easy and pretty quick to breed. They will pupate once you move them to a tub filled with dirt but put a lid on it and make sure to mist the dirt regularily. You should give the breeding another shot.

Don't be afraid of giving a full grown panther or veiled the large worms, they can totally handle them.

I've never bred hornworms, but every so often I will let a few worms morph and then feed off the newly-emerged moths to the chameleons. They're big as well, but when they just come out the wings are still folded up so the chameleons have no problem eating them. The worms and moths were always a favorite with my panthers.

My adult panthers can eat the large worms and one of them also eats the moths even after their wings are full. I don't feed off my months until after they are done breeding, but he loves them.

Yeah, I guess my bigger guyz can handle the big worms, since they are soft and squishy :)

I didnt use any dirt last time I tried to breed them, but they splattered some kind of nasy liquid (poop?) all over the inside of the glass terrarium they were in
Are they easier to breed then silkies? Because I never have any luck with them either

They are easier, but messier. ;)
