Evening All,

As many of us are starting to receive the animals from this last import, I thought it wise to start a new thread to share information and husbandry about this species in the hopes of getting them established here.

I figure if we can each share set ups, husbandry, and ongoing progress, we may find trends in what is working and what may be roadblocks.

This may also be a place where we can begin to get an understanding of who all has what for future trades for breeding.

I will start and hope others jump in here so we can all glean from each others efforts.

Cages: 2x2x4 screen cages.
Temps: Ambient room temp of 73 in spring/winter/fall, 75-76 in summer. Night time temps from 58 in winter to 64 in summer. Basking spots of 78-80 deg. 4 bulb T5 set up with arcadia 6% bulb and 3 plant bulbs for large plant.
Watering. Currently set up with mist king 2xday 7 min each. 2 drippers in each cage for 8 hours a day. May be adjusted initially based on drinking response.
1 large plant in each cage with multiple climbing branches as can be seen.

I will edit with pictures once the animals settle in. I hope after they settle some I will be able to get them outside for a large portion of the spring.

That drain table looks oddly familiar. Where have I seen that before?

Nice setups Bobby. Mine are nearly identical. I will post my setups here tomorrow when I have my inhabitants. It will be hard to sleep tonight.

Your trashcan laying bin is a nice touch. I saw that and went to Lowes just now and bought a black one for the same purpose.

I will post Picts of my set ups as well. I got 1 pair of the Bwindi
And should have them Wednesday. I think Boby and I are doing the same thing right down to the same air conditioner except my mist/drip is set up for 3-20 minute mists and 4-30 minute drip sessions per day. The drip starts right when the mists stops.

I observed the male head bobbing at the female today.

I have a 4 light t5 fixture but always thought that was too much light. In your experience you have not had any problems? No chams closing their eyes? If it works well for you, I will consider using it.

No issues at all, in fact, I use a 6 bulb fixture above my Parsons cage which is 5' tall. With the foliage that grows with the increased light, they can choose where in the light they want to be. At times they are right under it, at tiems they are in the plant.

They way it should be.

Keep in mind one of the bulbs is a 6% Arcadia UVB bulb.

A very nice milestone today that I am excited about.

Both animals are now feeding out of feeder cups and adjusting well. I was having to free range the food as well as allow them to eat out of my hands which is fine, but with my travel, I like to be able to have my wife put a specific number of feeders in a cup so we can keep track of what they are eating.

So....so far so good!!

Here is an update pic of female as of today.

The fat under her chin I would assume is the weight she is gaining while gravid? I can't imagine she has developed Edema, at least not in 1.5 weeks of my care considering I have not supplemented with any vitamins.

Anyway, she is eating consistently and urates thus far are white. She is reclusive, but I am ok with that.

The next big question will be, how does she deal with egg laying.

Bobby you have a wife. Ask her if you should comment on your girl having a bit of a double chin. You just don't do that! I hope she does well laying and we get to watch cool babies grow up.

I got a couple pics of Bogey and Bacall (for those that are old enough to know who they are) a while after lights out. Bacall moves around a lot and both are eating well. The stuck shed on Bogey's face is coming off slow but sure. If there was any doubt that she is gravid, I think that picture from the back cinches it. She is a chunk! Sorry if that was insensitive Laurie, lol

I hope the edema is not serious but I think it is worth noting that edema is not necessarily caused by over supplementing but can be a symptom of kidney, liver or cardiac problems. Ruth

One of my males had a scab on his elbow when I received him. Today he was shedding and the scab fell off and he has a hole 1/8" across and almost 1/8 deep there.. So I'm dealing with that.

Regarding edema with the pregnant females, I have noticed that my Meru females seem to get this during pregnancy. Perhaps these do also.

I have seen the same, so I would tend to believe the same. Will keep a close eye on it. Please keep us posted on the wound and how you treat it please.
