Hey ! I said i would keep you all updated on reptars rehabilitaion,so
He had started to fill out nicely, less boney! He also seems to be gaining muscle tone
,be is now sturdy on his feet as opposed to shaky. He is Alot more active! I bought him a water fall, got rid of the red basking bulb , and replaced it with a 75 watt day glow light at the suggestion of my new exotic pet boutique owner, bought him multi vitamin powder, and now with the meals of meal worms butter worms and crickets two times a day, plus the moving water of the water fall, his fecal and urate are no longer dehydrated! Today while Reptar was hunting he showed his big boy colors finally! All blue with some black dots, and then later he was all green with blue stripes everywhere including his viel and eyes :-D. i am so proud, and happy to be able to nurse him back to health after adopting him. I do have a concern that just arose though...i just turned off both his basking and his uvb lights at his normal bed time( as many of you suggested that no lights at night to help worth sleep cycle and temperature drop) and reptar just turned a grey color with his green shade very faint underneath. Is this normal for time change, is he stressed, do chameleons change to the color grey before shedding?

The waterfall whilst it looks good, if I were you i would send it back they can harbour quite a lot of Bacterium

It sounds like you're taking excellent care of him and he's lucky to have you! Do you have any pictures?

Reptar is a great name!

BTW- I have heard that concern quite a bit about the waterfall as well.

I do know the risks of water falls. But. I am cleaning his entire tank 1-2 time a week thoroughly, and the pro of the waterfall Stimulating his drinking is helping the dehydration away.i later plan on Purchasing Fogger and automatic mister.

Haha we are almost in the exact same situation except my chameleon is a female. Small world isnt it

If you are going to keep the waterfall it will need to be cleaned daily. They are notorious for bacteria and being used by the chameleon as a bathroom. Reptar will fare better with misting, a dripper or both. I use both for my chameleons. I like them to have access to water all the time. When you think about it, they are arboreal creatures who live in the canopy of a forest and there are no waterfalls up there. They look for water from condensation on the leaves. That's why the dripping or misting is better. It simulates their natural environment.
