UV replacement help!

It's that time of year again, time to replace uv tubes. Last time I used a 5.0 but I was shopping at the mom and pop store I frequent and saw zilla bulbs. They are a lot cheaper. Anyone have experience working with them?

Also I was thinking about stepping up to a higher uv, or do you think that would burn my dude.

Enclosure is 24x24x48

I am currently using the curly bulbs in his free range and if they are placed too close to the plants the bulb with actually burn the plant! I didn't know the uv was so strong from these.

Thanks
Ben

Zoomed Reptisun or Arcadia ONLY! No Zilla!!!!!!! You can upgrade to the 10.0 or 12% if you have heavy foliage and lots of hiding spots. No branch should be within 6" or closer to bulb. Only for your 48" cage. I only use the 10.0s for females, and that's for breeding age females. But it can be done.

My dude has eaten all but a few of the hibiscus leaves off his tree so I think I will stick with the same reptisun 5.0 for now.

In my head I new zilla was not gonna work, I don't know why I asked. Thanks!

UV Bulb

I have been a reptile collector since I was 10 years old. I currently breed leopard geckos and branched off into Chameleons. This is what I have to say about UV bulbs. Find away to record the date of when you use the UV Bulb for the very first time. Also, I have been measuring the UVA and UVB of the bulbs with a meter as it ages. I have found that getting the 10.0 is great because they do last a little bit longer (when speaking UV). You just should adjust your light and plants around from time to time. The weaker it is, the safer it is to bring the light closer. Again this might have been easy because I was using a UVA/UVB meter. You can find them on Ebay.
