Hey I just got my baby red bar panther today from screameleons. I have a basking dome light on there and i have the UVB bulb but i got the wrong size fixture for it. so i just ordered the right one online and will have it by friday. Is is ok for my cham to go a few days without the UVB light? Should i put him by my window so he gets some natural sunlight untill then? Thanks for the help.

Natural sunlight is best...but I've heard that the glass panes in your window can filter out a lot of the UV. So if it's warm enough, open your window during the day.

Well if you can take him outside in some 80 degree sunlight each day where either you can watch him or he is in an enclousure then he should be okay. If not make sure he has supliments Calcium with D3 added to all his food in a dusted application.

your cham wont get any uvb threw the glass in the window and i think you are in NY so their might be a draft so i wouldent do it. i think you can go a few days without one but not very long. im not too sure about this but very experienced keepers will reply soon.

Ok...after looking into a bit more...glass filters 95%...not 100. So it would be better to have him by even a closed window than to have him in the corner of the room if you have no other source of UVB.

ok thanks everyone..I think to solve this prob im gonna buy a new fixture tomorrow and use it till the one i ordered comes then return it...shhh dont tell the store.

Chams can go a few days without UVB, just not for very long. One week will not hurt your cham. Tho buying one to use while you wait for the other one is fine too.
