Veiled chameleon does not like her new bamboo stick

In this photo Artemis is staring down at the stick with her angry markings. She saw me just put in this stick and kept looking at it for at least 3 minutes and she stayed mad for a little bit after I removed the stick.

Artemis did not see me put this stick in. About 5 minutes later she walked near it and she was not happy about it being there. The bamboo is in the bottom left and that is the closest she would get to it.

I am not sure if she just does not like new things in her cage or that stick? Or maybe she thinks it is a threat. I just found it strange.
Does anybody’s Chameleon act weird when putting something new in their enclosure?

My Tommy did that once - threw a proper fit when I tried to put a new branch in for him. He taught me that to introduce anything new to a cage you have to remove the chameleon first, lol! They hate change!

I personally don't like & never use bamboo, or any other twig/branch that has a slippery surface & from watching chameleons struggling to grip them, i'm not alone.

I have sanded the bamboo so there is enough texture for her to get a good grip. If I see that she is struggling to hold on I will remove the bamboo. I have not kept it in there long enough for her to try it. I will put a some in while she is outside of her enclosure and see how she likes the bamboo sticks.
