my veiled chameleon started wanting out of her cage all the time and not eating anything ..... i read that these are signs of her needing to lay eggs ....

so ive made her a temporary home in a tuperware container with alot of potting soil and a stick and a couple plastic plants and her heat lamp over top ..... got it from a video i watched on youtube

is that the right type of enclosure or temporary home to make ??

how long does it take for her to lay the eggs ??

she really dosnt like it in there and wants out

Chameleons will often go off food and wander around the bottom of there cage, meaning they are ready. Chameleons take 15-30 days to lay there eggs after She is gravid.... Ive never heard of soil.. Uhm make sure if it is its not with fetalizer, and that its organic :p

Ive only heard of people using mix's of Playsand, And cocohusk or something else, other then the husk.. I could be wrong :p

I don't believe a tupperware will be deep enough and depending on the size of ur cham it might not have enough diameter, I believe u want like 6-8 inches, read the link brad submitted it should tell u what u need to know, most people put the bin inside the enclosure for the cham to go to when she wants to and privacy is also Vital so if she can see u watching her, she won't lay. If u still have questions after reading the link above, just ask!!

I cannot think of anything "Tupperware" that would be big enough? To "put her in there" it would need to be a large garbage type of container. Can you not place something that is about 10" wide and 10" deep in her cage for her to lay in?

thnx for the feedback ..... my mistake lol... its not tupperwear its a rubbermade container like in this video

i have taken her out of that and put her in her old glass terrarium and filled the bottom with a mix off sand and soil ...about 9 to 10 inches deep... well see how this works ....

Glass is not a great option - if she digs down to the glass side and can see light, she will not like it. A dark plastic or similar is the way to go

Just cover the outside of the glass and she won't see daylight when she digs the hole. Don't let her see you watching her when she is digging.
